Another windows 8 freezing problem..

I posted another thread because I think mine is bit different than others.

It is very random. Once it occurs, the mouse is perfectly move-able. However, I can't click on things, but strangely, I can click some of them. If I press ctrl+alt+del, the screen turns blue like normal, but doesn't give me options, and I can't get out. The only way to solve this is shutting down forcefully. I lost loads of data because of this bug.

Do you have any suggestions? I'm considering "refresh pc without touching your files" thing. Will it work?

• deleting programs that I recently downloaded
• upgrading my drivers

so... does refreshing windows 8 thing work? or should I go back to windows 7? I really like windows 8 (except the metro UI thing), and I really want to keep it.

Didn't try refreshing, and since it seems to be a driver issue, I don't think it'll solve it either....

I think it's because of software(s). When my windows 8 was "clean", I never had this issue. And then, I started installing programs such as office, chrome, firefox, spotify, bonjour service, vmware workstation, utorrent, google drive, and then, it started. I am going to try refreshing tonight, and see if it works or not. If it doesn't work, I'm ditching win8. If it works, then I gotta find out what software is causing problem.

Well, I figure it started happening because you were actually putting the computer to use, and not just leaving it barebone without doing nothing. I have formatted and reinstalled and the issue persisted.

However,
I've read people saying it happens more often with Chrome, if you want to try without installing things, try avoiding chrome for a bit....

yeah I'll refresh and avoid installing chrome.

Try this (it's a guess on my part)
Uninstall all nVidia or ATI video software (be careful not to uninstall nForce or AMD chipset drivers)
Install the DRIVERS ONLY
- nVidia: nVidia Video Cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure
- ATI: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure

Beyond that, update all drivers and software to the latest, Win7 compatible version (late 2009 or later). Search the hard drive for *.sys (drivers) and check any of them dated from 2009 or earlier against my table here: Driver Reference Table (DRT)
