Please Help BSODs

I've been trying to figure this stuff out on my own for well over 6 months now, but the frequency of BSODs and timing seem increasingly random to me, as do the error messages, I've been getting errors with messages such as Bad_Pool_Header, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and System_Service_Exception.

Steps I've taken so far:

Updated BIOS using Asus supplied BIOS
Injected more recent modules than those in the original Asus BIOS and flashed again
Updated Intel Management Engine Interface firmware and drivers
Checked RAM with Memtest - 4 cycles and approx 4.5 hours with no errors detected
Updated BIOS in SSD
Reinstalled and Refreshed Windows

I'm not really sure what to do next. I could really do with some help.

Have you been using IOBit the whole time?

No, I installed that on the 14th June and ran the driver booster which updated a number of drivers relating to ACPI, ASMedia XHCI controller, Generic IEEE 1667 ACT and Probe Silo, Generic USB Hub and Intel Family Chipset drivers. Altogether it updated about 26 drivers though some seemed to come up as the same name but with different ports listed.

Why? Are you advising against it?

I've only ever heard horror stories when IOBit is involved, most resorting to clean installs to rid themselves of it. It would be an idea to try and get rid of it to rule it out although it can be a real pain to completely wipe from the system.

How recent are the reports of issues with IOBit?

How many of my 28 minidump files are pointing to IOBit as the main cause, bearing in mind that only 9 of them were generated after I installed the IOBit software?

I don't want to come across as someone that's dismissing sound advice, it's more that I find it hard to hold that particular package to blame when the issues I've been experiencing had started long before I installed the package, though I'm willing to accept that it might be contributing to additional issues since I installed it.

I'm not blaming the BSOD problem on IOBit, I'm saying debugging the BSODs and getting the system working properly may be a hell of a lot harder with IOBit present. If you're not willing to uninstall it then that's your call, I can look at your dumps and tell you what I find, beyond that I can't guarantee results though. Take a look at Seven Forums linked in my sig and search IOBit, that will give you an extended background on how troublesome it is. I'll take a look at your dumps later.

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to argue with you, but I do need to ask questions about suggestions in order to better understand the answers so I can learn from them, I'll check out the forums with regards to IOBit and then uninstall it if necessary. Having previously uninstalled IOBit software, I've found the best way is to uninstall all of the different parts, one at a time using the IOBit uninstaller, as this clears the registry and sets restore points at each stage, then when the Uninstaller is all that's left I can remove that with the standard Programs and Features uninstaller.

Hopefully you'll find something that will point us in the right direction, I've done quite a bit already, it can't be that far to go to find a solution now, or at least I hope so anyway.

Thanks for looking in to this.

I've taken a quick look at your dumps and memory corruption pops up in the vast majority of them. I can't post up the details as I'm on my phone at the moment but I'll list it later and post a diagnostic test for you to run.

I have another 8gb kit, I can swap out my current RAM with those to see if I still get the same issue. I'm quite surprised that it didn't show up under memtest and I'm certain that I had the same issue when I swapped the ram over before, but it wouldn't hurt to retest now.

Or should I wait until I've run the diagnostic test first?

*** edit ***

I've been thinking about it, I should run some diagnostics on the RAM so that if there is a problem I can get it RMA'd and replaced, but also if both sets of RAM show the same issue then it might indicate an issue with my RAM slots. I won't do anything until I have your diagnostics tools to check it with.

Oh and thanks for the feedback on my minidump files.

I googled memory tests and found a suggestion to use mdsched. I ran it and got the following results from my Event Viewer logs:

Which I backs up your findings from the minudump files, strangely the errors don't show when running memtest. It's really frustrating that I couldn't find a way to read the minidump files myself, I know where to find them but they are so heavily guarded it seems almost impossible to find out what they mean without help. The best I've been able to do is read my Event Viewer logs and google the Event IDs when there are errors.

I'm going to test the RAM in another PC on Saturday to double check, and then RMA it if the error persists on the other PC.

Right, sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, I've been pretty busy the past couple of days. I've outline the details of the diagnostic test below, test the RAM and we'll go from there once we know the results.

Download and run MemTest86+ to test your RAM. RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Help Forums

Note   Note
picture.php

Run MemTest86+ for at least 8 passes. Ideally set it off before you go to bed and leave it overnight, we're looking for zero errors here. A single error will show something's going bad with your RAM.

I had already run Memtest on a few occassions and my RAM passed everytime, the last time I ran it, I left it running for nearly 4.5 hours and allowed it to complete more than 4 cycles, but no errors showed up. I was running it from a bootable USB stick.

MDSCHED on the other picked up errors almost instantly, anyway, I'm going to test my RAM in my father in law's PC this weekend and run MDSCHED on that one to see if I still get the same errors just so I can rule out a fault on my mobo. It does appear that your diagnostics is correct though, so thanks for that, it's been a great help.

Is there anything else I need to look at in order to get my PC back to it's usual zesty self?

You need to run MemTest86+ for at least 8 passes, 4.5 hours is nowhere near long enough to be conclusive.

Ok. I'll give that a go.

Once done, is there anything else I need to address?

I'm quite certain that my RAM is defective, at least according to the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool, when that showed errors I swapped the RAM over using modules in another PC and restarted a few times, my TCG errors have gone, I can run a full one hour Linpack test through OCCT where it would previously stop with an error and no explanation after 5 to 9 minutes and I haven't seen any blue screens since the swap. That 'defective' RAM is packed away at the moment and I think it would make more sense to test it on my father in laws PC as the donor PC is now in Manchester where the owner of that PC has just upgraded his RAM to 16gb (using a 2x8gb kit) but that way I can eliminate the possibility of a motherboard fault.

I didn't think I would get time to do anything today, but I have reinstalled the defective ram and started Memtest86+ (v5.01) and the PC is just about to complete the first cycle. I'm going to bed now and expect a full 8 cycles to have been completed before I get up.

I'll report back with my findings.

@Boozad: I used your link to download Memtest86+, when I checked the picture I had taken the last time I ran Memtest I discovered I was using a different edition, Memtest86, both were on version 5.01 but I suspect that I wasn't seeing errors as I was using the non plus version. I google the differences and found that the + was created to deal with newer chipsets but it won't detect correctly on older chipsets, the other won't work correctly on newer chipsets. So using Memtest was the right idea, not knowing the difference when I did run it is where I went wrong, I never would have found any errors with the wrong version!

Here are my before and after pictures:

Clearly there are issues. Will start the RMA process.

Should I mark this as resolved or is there more to look into?

I am still getting errors in my Event Viewer logs, one for the same Event 10, EnhancedStorage-EhStorTcgDrv and the other is Event 131, DeviceSetupManager.
