I have rebuilt my old WHS and have decided to give Windows 8.1 a try with is as most of our personal pc are also running Win 8.1 and WHS 2011 is being phased out. This is mostly new hardware with the exception of storage hdds and a couple old SATA controllers. I use it mostly for serving Video, music, photos and documents as well as backup for my families home PCs.

Mobo: ASUS, Z87-PLUS
CPU: i3-4160 CPU @ Stock 3.60GHz
Mem: Crucial Ballistix 2x4gb DDR3 1600
PS: Corsair CX750M
OS HDD: Kingston SSDNow V300 120gb
External HDD enclosure: Roosewill RSV-S8 sata
Storage HDD: a mix of WD 3tb Red drives and WD 2tb Green drives

I have a mostly fresh install but have been trying and failing to locate what I believe is a driver problem. I run it mostly headless so don't see the actual blue screens but have checked the logs and have been mostly getting DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION errors. It has been happening a couple times a day.

Reinstalled

I got angry and did a fresh reinstall the exact same way as before and don't appear to be having any problems so far for the last 12 hours. I will update if I have the problem again.

Thank you.
