I purchased an asrock z77 deluxe motherboard and tried to install it. It came with a disk that has window 7 install files that i wasnt aware of at the time. I proceeded to start the install process. It installs several files like Intel rapid storage, audio drivers, usb drivers etc . Everything was going accordingly until it got to one of those things and the computer restarted but got stuck in blue screen repeatedly with a warning that it couldnt diagnose or fix the issue.
Now here's the thing. I have a back up hardddrive that pretty much has an image of the current disk that im using. It was a 120gb ssd drive that i had to get rid of to get a bigger ssd. I ran the migration program it comes with and just put it aside and started using the newer drive.
Now here's the question im looking to get answered. Since i switched the drives, i've installed a bunch of programs on the new drive that i dont want to lose and im trying to see if there's a way to back up the "program files" "program data" etc folders , do a full install of windows on the drive and then transfer those folders into the drive.
since the fresh install of windows will essentially wipe out everything on the disk, then ill install the correct drive for my motherboard. Following that, i will then restore the program folders that i hopefully backed up.
Is that possible to do? will the programs work ? what do i need to make that happen?
