Hi there.

I'm in a bit of a hassle at the moment where i built a PC for my friend with all new parts expect for GFX card and HDD.
When i install Windows 8.1 trough a USB i get to the first restart screen and then it does "making device ready" then it blue screens with the watchdog violation BSOD.

I've tried to unplug everything USB related to see if it was that but it was not, anyway i managed to get a hold of the DUMP files trough the Advanced options in bios and yeah the debug message follows in the link below.

I have no idea what to look for, so i help me please before i throw it out !

Dump debugged: Microsoft (R) Windows Debugger Version 6.3.9600.17336 AMD64 Copyright (c) Mic - Pastebin.com

You say the HDD is not new. Does it still have the old OS on it? That could be your problem, are you doing a clean install, has the drive been wiped?

It's been completely deleted & formatted trough windows installation process !
Tried it both since it blue screens and i need to redo the installation every time because it gets interrupted.

It appears it is the video card causing the problem from the report. Since you are building it yourself are you sure everything meets specs such as PSU? Could be lots of things with new build. Makes sure card is seated properly and all cables connected properly.

Do you have another graphics card to try or can you run off the integrated GPU? Just pull the dedicated graphics and see if Windows installs.

The PSU should not be a problem but the GFX card is a bit out dated, It's a GTX 580 but it should work, no ?

Also, It's a MSI x99 gaming 7
Dont have integrated GFX >.<

That card does require 600W PSU minimum. Would be nice if you posted all the specs. Make/model of everything, PSU, CPU, etc. Again, no other GPU to try?

He has an exact same other module of the GPU to try, and i guess i can borrow him mine if need be to see if it works.

and here is the specs:

  • - Intel Core i7-5820K, 3.3Ghz, 6-core, LGA2011-3
  • - Crucial DDR4 16GB 2133MHz Quad-channel KIT
  • - MSI X99S GAMING 7, Socket 2011-3
  • - PSU is a 750W (not sure on the make of that one)

Yea, that is about all I have, need to try another GPU. You are sure both power cables are secure, the 6 and 8 pin pci-e?
