BSOD Waking from Sleep (power state driver failure)

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I've been having this issue since updating to Windows 8.1. I will wake my computer from it's sleep and a few minutes later I get the BSOD. In one notable event early on, I got two in a row after the computer restarted from the previous BSOD.

I fiddled with my power settings (I was trying to avoid my computer actually shutting down during sleep/hibernation) a few months ago and after that I didn't have any BSOD events that I recall until this past week. When they do happen, they tend to happen in rapid succession, as you can see from the dates on the collected data I've attached (I see there's a .txt file with all my computer's information for you reference) - I've had one every day for the past three days.

I've read through many of these threads and tried several of the solutions. I am running verifier.exe since the BSOD has started up again since from what I can understand from reading the .dmp file and this forum that the message I'm getting about ntoskrnl.exe is misleading (?).

Please take a look at the dumps and other information collected from the DM Log Collector Tool and let me know if you can help me solve this problem.

    Thank You.

    Hi, pnutbudder,

I've been having a similar problem since a few weeks ago. I suspect this is due to a recent Windows or driver update, since both of us had the same problem at the same time. I'm going to take a look at your dump files in a few hours, but in the meantime, could you tell me

    1. whether you have Evernote or any Blizzard games installed
    2. whether you've installed any new programs recently,
    3. what graphics drivers you have installed,
4 what music or audio programs you have installed (eg, music players, movie editors, music studios and recording programs, game streaming programs)?

EDIT: Okay, I took a look at your dump files, and they point to a bad interaction between the "usbccgp.sys" and the "ksthunk.sys" driver. These are the same drivers that are misbehaving on my system, too (Lenovo Y510P). As far as I can tell, the only device that uses ksthunk.sys is the Lenovo EasyCam. Try this fix:

    1. Download the "Broadwell" version of the camera driver on this page: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/prod...loads/DS101169 . We're going to replace your current camera driver with Lenovo's original camera driver.
    2. Open "Device Manager" by right-clicking on the lower left corner of the screen.
    3. Double-click "Imaging Devices" to open it.
    4. Right-click "Lenovo EasyCamera" and click "Disable". You should see a small downward-pointing arrow appear next to the picture.
    5. Right-click "Lenovo EasyCamera" again and click "Uninstall". Click "Okay" in the dialog. Do not restart, because Windows automatically installs missing drivers when it restarts, and they might not be functional.
    6. Run the installer that you downloaded in Step 1. If it starts a second installer when it's done, follow the directions to finish both procedures.
    7. Restart.

Let me know if this fixes your problems. Another fix I'm trying right now is uninstalling the Lenovo YouCam program, uninstalling the driver, and moving the driver to a different directory so Windows can't find it. This is a more drastic fix, however, as it would leave you with a nonfunctioning camera. Let me know if you would like further details on how to do this.

Also, as a precaution, check to make sure Windows System Restore is on and has plenty of space allotted to it (about twice as much as is currently being used), so that it doesn't erase any restore points.

    1. No
    2. No
    3. Intel HD Graphics 5500
    4. The current Windows Media Player, The Media Players which come with my computer (Windows), VLC.

I have found it only happens, however, when I have the charging mode on "conservation."

That's interesting. Is that a Windows "Power Plan" or is that a mode that charges your battery only to a certain percentage?

Okay, mine has a similar program called "Energy Management", and the options are called "Maximum Battery Life" and "Optimized Battery Health". That's very interesting...So are you currently not using "Conservation" mode?
