BSoD with 4 different crash errors in 1 week...

    Hi Y'all.

Ok. I've been having the BSoD with multiple errors causing the crashes.

    May 31st: NETIO.SYS
    Jun 2nd: CNG.SYS
    Jun 3rd: WMILIB.SYS
    Jun 6th: NTFS.SYS

I have dmp files for all 3 crashes if requested.

After the CNG.SYS crash I ran MEMTEST86 from a UEFI USB drive and after 6 hours it returned no errors with my memory modules. The NETIO.SYS error had me thinking it was my Samsung SSD which runs the Win8.1 x64 Enterprise OS but after running diagnostics on the SSD it returned no errors. Now getting the NTFS.SYS error I'm baffled at what's causing these different errors virtually everyday for the past week.

So, what ideas can be offered for me to look into that's causing these errors?

    Thanks.
    Cole

Hi cmcole101 & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-

Let's see if we can find out the culprit by looking at the stack -

All of the bugchecks which you encountered are pointing to the same driver that is the AVG Antivirus' Firewall Driver. I am seeing an increased number of such cases so I believe that some bug is there in the AVG's Firewall.

Kindly remove the AVG Antivirus using this **TOOL** and see if the system behaves normally or not.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Thank you so much for your quick review and response to this frustrating issue.

If it is the AVG program I'll be very disappointed since just moments ago I was telling my best friend that I've been using AVG Free for years on all my PCs and how it isn't a resource hog like his Norton, and when he buys his new PC to install this instead.

Additionally, the free version doesn't come with the Firewall part as it is a Pro version and I don't need it because I live and work on a university campus which has fairly tight network protocols which protect us, for the most part, from the need to have additional individual firewall software running on our PCs. However, I'm going to uninstall AVG Free 2015 and see how things run for the next few days.

Being that AVG Free 2015 just updated to a new build a week or 2 ago and my crashes appeared not long afterwards is a big coincidence, and personally I don't believe in coincidences.

I'll keep y'all updated as I learn more.

    Again, thanks HUGELY, Pranav!

    Hi Cole ^_^,

    You are welcome

Hehe. You never know when an antivirus can be the problem for your system. Let me know in case of any further problems ^_^

Well, Pranav, it's been 8 days now since uninstalling AVG 2015 Free, and not a single BSoD. No crash of any kind. Coincidentally, though, I can no longer place Pinned Shortcut links on the Explorer icon located on the Taskbar. First they started randomly disappearing forcing me to copy them back, and on the 5th or 6th time of them disappearing I can no longer place more than 4 whereas before I could put 12. I've got an open ticket with Microsoft Answers Support forum about this. I included the SFC scannow log as well as the information you asked for by running the dm_log_collector.exe. It's been a couple of days since I've heard from them, but if it turns out to be something significant, like a registry change, or related to the uninstall of AVG 2015 Free, I'll post it here.

Again, thanks for helping me resolve the BSoD crashes. I'm resting so much easier now.

    Hi Cole ^_^,

I am glad to hear that the problems have been solved after uninstalling AVG
Unfortunately, I am not so well versed with the other part of Windows troubleshooting like the one you have mentioned . You could post in the IE section of the forum and I am sure someone would help you out.

Let me know in case of any further problems ^_^
