    BSOD ocurring randomly, error 0xc0000005

    Hello,

Lately my computer has been acting up and randomly crashes, bsod's or sometimes even fails to boot (doesnt show the bios screen, have to restart like 5 times for it to work).

I thought the problem was the ram but i did a 1 run only memtest86+ and it was ok.

What should i do next? Also, apparently i only have 3 minidumps? My computer crashed A LOT more than that.

    Thanks!

Hi whysarx & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

Sorry for the delay. There are not many analysts and at times we do get overwhelmed
I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-

WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)A fatal hardware error has occurred. Parameter 1 identifies the type of error
source that reported the error. Parameter 2 holds the address of the
WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure that describes the error conditon.
    Code:
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000000000000, Machine Check Exception
    Arg2: ffffe0015f272028, Address of the WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure.
    Arg3: 00000000f6004000, High order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value.
    Arg4: 00000000f1000145, Low order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value.
Let's check the second parameter -
    Code:

According to the dump file, there was an error in the L1 Cache of the processor while performing the Data Write operation.

I checked the other dump files as well, and in one of the dump files, the function CmpInitializaHive which is an internally undocumented function. But, my guess is that this function is used to initialize the registry and it's location of files. According to the dump file, this function caused an error and the system collapsed (Hmm. I like how I have used the word 'collapsed' :0) )

Kindly follow the below steps -
    1. Kindly remove the LogMeIn software as it is known to cause problems. The chance of this causing is like NIL because the problems you are experiencing and the dumps point the finger to the hardware (Most likely CPU).
    2. Kindly start with the free diagnostics (Start with Prime95 first) located over here (Thanks usasma!) - Hardware Diagnostics
    3. Perform the Intel Burn Test - IntelBurnTest - The new stress-testing program

Also, keep a note of temperatures while idle and performing the tests and report them back. For monitoring temperatures, I use CoreTemp. And make sure that you run the Memtest for at least 8 passes.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Thank you very much for the kind reply! I have reformated the computer and it still crashes and this installation doesnt have logMeIn so point 1 is excluded.

Ill try to stress test ASAP. I'll also upload the new dumps i got with this computer but i dont know if it will help.

Also, does this imply i have a faulty CPU?

Thank you very much for the reply!

    Hi whysarx ^_^,

Kindly run the tests and report back the results. I will analyse the dump files once I get enough time.

It is very much possible that your CPU is faulty but let's perform the diagnostics first

I ran 2 prime95 tests. First one crashed in less than 1 minute. Second one prime95 detected errors with the following message:
    [Tue Jun 09 18:23:12 2015]
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.

So... Is my cpu really dead? I really dont want/cant afford to switch CPU's but if it has to be done.

Anyway thanks you so much for the help!

    Hi Whysarx ^_^,

Unfortunately, that is a dead CPU

Although if you buy a new CPU, please get it from a shop which accepts returns.

    You are welcome
