    New Asus BSOD 0x9F_3_IMAGE_pci.sys

    Hey there, everyone.
    I just bought a new ASUS ROG G771JM laptop and I got three BSODs so far, all saying driver_power_state_failure.
    My OS is Windows 8.1 Pro 64bits. I think my drivers are up to date, I got them all from the Asus site. The only thing I didn't update is BIOS, because I didn't know which version to choose from those listed for my laptop.
    I added the zip file with the dump reports and everything else. Please help !

    Hi,

    Nvidia driver is probably not working as it should, so try downloading this one:
    NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver for Grand Theft Auto V WHQL

    Note: you might need to delete current driver first

    Both dumps are about same problem:

    Code:
    3: kd> !analyze -v

    Thank you Addictive Gamer I've already downloaded that driver, but I didn't install it because I thought I'm only supposed to install the drivers from the manufacturer website.
    I'll do a clean install and hope the problem won't occur anymore.
    As for BIOS, should I update it to a newer version or just leave it like this ? In the log files it said :

    *Bios Revision = G771JM.202
    * Bios Name = G771JM.202
    * Bios Release Date = 2014-09-26T00:00:00
    * Bios Sku Number = ASUS-NotebookSKU
    * Bios Vendor = American Megatrends Inc.
    * Bios Family = G

    But I'm not sure which version to use from here : Notebooks & Ultrabooks | G771JM | ASUS Global

    Your BIOS version is 202.
    Currently most recent version is 204.

    Therefore you can flush your BIOS, however you need to follow instructions by asus exactly and carefully.
    failed BIOS flush can't be undone and in that case forums can't help, only technician.

    I'm not trying to scare you, it's nothing difficult or special, but I don't wanna be involved into this process

    In case if you get new BSOD fee free to share new dumps here.

    Yes, Asus website is always first step but it's not working.
    Nvidia is official site and downloading drivers from there is OK.
    Download drivers from unverified websites should be avoided.

    I've updated BIOS before on my Dell laptop, without any problems. I downloaded and installed a Bios flash utility, from the Asus drivers and support, I think I can use it to update BIOS. But for now, I'm gonna let it be. Will only update it if I encounter more problems.

    I installed the new Nvidia driver. So far, so good, but I'm afraid I'll jinx it I hope the errors will stop. I hate Windows 8, yikes,, I miss my old Windows 7 so much. Things were so much easier with Win 7. Now I have all these stupid and pointless apps, that I'll never even use. They just take my space for nothing. Why does a PC/Laptop have to look like a damn phone? Grrrr /end of rant

    Thank you so much for your help, Addictive Gamer, I really appreciate it. I will give it a week to see if the problem is resolved and mark the topic as solved. Thank you again !

    Ok let's hope that works
    I don't like "phone style" Windows either, I guess that's something we have to live with
