BSOD: Kernel_Security_Check_Failure

Hello all,

Per title, I've received the Kernel_Security_Check_Error two or three times in the past week. It happens when I unlock the computer after it is auto-locked. Both times the BSOD said it was dumping files, but then it reaches 100% and just stays there, so I've had to give it a hard reset by holding the power button.

Thanks for any help - I'd prefer to do this stuff myself but knowledge is lacking. So far I've ran a memory check and MalwareBytes scan and haven't found any issues. I might also run a hard drive check tonight. A zip file is here: View attachment 60668

Any takers? :D

I'm not immensely concerned about it, because it hasn't happened again since I've posted this thread. But this computer is only a year old, so I'd like to keep up on the maintenance, and figure out what is causing the issue.

I do have Autodesk installed, and it has an update manager which was running in the background. I changed its settings so it only runs once a week now, so maybe that was the issue? I imagine its a driver causing the issue, but I'm not sure how to read/interpret my system log, otherwise I'd try to figure it out myself.

Hi,
There doesn't seen to be offered drivers for your laptop / Windows 8.1 on acer website, even by using the SNID number.
And since I suspect the cause could be with Intel wireless adapter driver here is an updated version release 3 weeks ago...

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24864/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Windows-8-1-

On that page you'll find 4 links, 2 of them are for windows 8.1. download them and install.
If you're unsure which one you need here is a direct link:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/do...intel.com/24864/eng/Wireless_17.16.0_e164.exe

You'll have to accept the agreement however.
report results of installation, when you're done.

EDIT:
If you encounter problems with this driver you can roll back changes like so in device manager:
Windows key + X > Command prompt (Admin)
type: devmgmt.msc
right click Intel wireless adapter > driver

Thanks a ton AG. The driver was obsolete - I had version 16.5.3.6. I installed the version which includes the software, wireless_17.16.0_e164.exe. I don't believe that I had the software previously, and only had the driver, but Intel recommended that the software be installed if I didn't already have it.

I do remember having issues with the wireless network adapter a few months ago - sometimes the connection would get dropped, and the wireless adapter would have to be reset. Hopefully this resolves the issues. I'll post an update within a week or so, to see how things worked out.

Thanks again. :thumb:
