BSOD - PLC programming cable UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

Hi Guys,

I'm getting a BSOD when trying to use a programming cable for a PLC.

The cable is basically a usb to serial cable but it requires the PLC manufacturers own drivers. On a windows 7 machine, there is no problem but when using it on my windows 8.1 machine I get a BSOD - UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

The PLC is a Schneider. The drivers for it are located here.

I have also attached a log as per posting rules.

I have since followed a guide on a website to try and convert the windows 7 x64 driver into one that is compatible with windows 8 x64 but it still did not work and I still get the above fault.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi BertC,

Really sorry for the delay. Could you please just run the ZIP file collection utility again and upload the latest ZIP file in case you are still experiencing that same BSOD? From what I have seen, drivers for such devices only work with the Operating Systems they are designed for. There were a lot of changes in the kernel in Windows 8.1 so I would not be surprised if that does not work.

I would suggest you to contact Schneider if you want a driver compatible with Windows 8.1
