Hello,

So I've been having issues with a self built system for a while, not sure if they are related or not. Basically, the computer will randomly freeze up completely or sometimes simply turn itself off. It will happen sometimes while I'm playing a game or it can happen by itself overnight when I'm not doing anything. I thought it was a power supply issue so I replaced it to no effect. after turning it back on I go to the event viewer and see the dreaded error 41. no big help there.

Also, sometimes while playing games the video will completely freeze which I think is the same problem as above but if I have a program such as teamspeak running, I can still hear people talking, so I know its not completely frozen. In these cases if I wait 20 seconds or so it will go back to normal. obviously this isnt something you want to happen while playing an online game. i'd say it happens 2 to 3 times per hour on average.

here is what i've got:

intel i5 4690k
radeon r9 290
8gb ram
sound blaster recon3d PCIe
windows 8.1 running on an ADATA Sp900 SSD
1TB WD caviar black
running wireless AC on a PCE-AC68, ethernet is not an option

nothing is overclocked

what i've done:
replaced power supply with a bronze certified one. dont rememebr exactly which one but i can find out if its important
updated bios and all drivers i could think of
ran diagnostics on the SSD and HDD
ran memtest
running HWmonitor, no overheating issues are apparent
ran FurMark for about 5 minutes, GPU made it up to 83 degrees eventually. hot, but it took a while to get there so i thought that was OK. i dont ever see temps that high normally

downloaded diagnostic info per the instructions, attached

thanks in advance for your help

thanks for the quick response.

i don't really know much about intel RST, from what I can tell its some kind of RAID thing. their webpage was difficult to understand which file I would need to update so I decided to uninstall it to see what happens.

i also uninstalled all of the gigabyte stuff and deleted the daemon tools drivers you mentioned. the other thing I think is part of my printer drivers and there werent any updates available. I'd like to be able to continue using the printer so I'm going to try leaving it for now and see if the other stuff fixes the issue. if not, I'll uninstall the printer and see if that resolves. will report back, thanks

Oh, OK. Leave the printer drivers be. Intel is more important. You uninstalled it? OK. Keep me posted.

Well. I like to keep my drivers updated.
Intel RST is the driver used for drive(s) in AHCI or RAID mode.
Windows has its own AHCI & RAID drivers if you don't wish to install Intel's.

But you should make sure that rest of your drivers are up to date. Like chipset and such.
