Hi Guys,

Having a strange problem with a PC I have. It's an HP laptop, Intel i5, 6gb of RAM, etc.

It came with W7 on it, but I wanted 8 so I purchased 8 and installed it. The first time, I installed it over Windows 7 (keeping my files). Everything went fine, ran a windows update, restarted, and after going into HP QuickWeb (This stupid pre-OS software that has internet connectivity, and some other things, one of the most pointless and annoying softwares I've ever encountered), the PC would not boot into windows. No worry, I went into BIOS and disabled the QuickWeb. Still wouldn't load, so I did a refresh, which seemed to get it to go. Did another restart, same issue. So I performed a fresh install. Deleted all partitions, full install from an 8..1 disc. That seemed to work, until it came time to run Windows Updates. When I open Windows Update, it shows up, the computer makes the noise as if a new device has been plugged in, and it goes black screen and restarts to Recovery screen.

I'm stumped. I've done everything I can and still no go. I don't understand what could be causing this issue? The hardware is all fine. Never had an issue with W7. No error codes, just the USB sound and then a restart.

Anyone ever experienced something like this?
