Solved BSOD at startup

I turn on my computer, then the classic mainboard ad and some millisecond text come, and Windows 8 starts loading (that screen with the fish and a spinning thing). It spins for about 4-5 times then I get a BSOD (for reference, it usually takes 6 spins of the icon to load). I didn't install anything recently, neither changed settings. Tried using the install CD and repairing start-up, but the program says it couldn't fix the problem. I have a partitioned HD, dual-booting Windows 7 and 8. Windows 7 partition has 400GB (74 free) and Windows 8 one has 100GB (50 free), so it is not a paging memory issue. Refreshing also doesn't work. Then, using the CD tool, I booted Windows 7. It asked to do a chkdisk (or whatever). I did it and no errors were found. Also did a memory scan, nothing wrong too.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

There's dozens of them! Which one should I download? And you mean delete the wsimdx.sys?

Yes, I do. That will allow you to boot to Windows 8 and bsods will be gone.

Check your motherboard manual or Windows 7 device manager for the type and name of the specific network hardware. If this is wireless for an add-on card, check its documentation instead. If it doesn't immediately tell you which Atheros chipset it uses, Google the results for the adapter until you find which it uses.

Strongly recommend to uninstall LogMeIn once at Windows 8, too:

GMan: Where I can find which driver to use? I do not dispose the motherboard manual. I don't know where to find this information in Device Manager either. Is it under network adapters?

GMan: Where I can find which driver to use? I do not dispose the motherboard manual. I don't know where to find this information in Device Manager either. Is it under network adapters?

Yeah...check Windows 7 Device Manager, under the Network adapters section. It will tell you which wireless adapter you have or which Atheros chipset it is based on.

If it only tells you the adapter name, then Google the name and put "Atheros" in the same search. Then you will know which chipset it uses then download the corresponding driver from here: ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)

After deleting the driver on 8's partition or drive (\SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\wsimdx.sys) so you can get into Windows 8, reboot to Windows 8 and install the new download using the Device Manager. Right click the "unknown device" in Device Manager (or similar) and choose Update driver software. Browse my computer, let me pick, have disk, browse...

Now find the extracted .inf file from the download. Double click on it. Click ok, then click next and it will install.

Uninstall LogMeIn Hamachi when that is done and your machine is completely set to be 100% well.

Right, I found it (didn't notice you saying "network hardware"). I googled it but didn't get a decent result. Only spam posts on random forums with no answers. It says it's a Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).

If that's all you have, then you don't have wireless.

I would forget everything for now. Just delete the driver and reboot to 8. Enjoy.

So since I didn't hear from ya again yet, I'm assuming that you also messed up your Windows 8 booting, from clues in your first post.

You can use EasyBCD to add the Windows 8 partition or drive to the boot manager, while in Windows 7.

Be sure to save in that program after you add it, then reboot and you will have a choice of 8 or 7.
