Not sure how elementary steps clearly described above is turning out to be a complicated endeavor.

Right, I found it (didn't notice you saying "network hardware"). I googled it but didn't get a decent result. Only spam posts on random forums with no answers. It says it's a Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).

If that's all you have, then you don't have wireless.

I would forget everything for now. Just delete the driver and reboot to 8. Enjoy.

So since I didn't hear from ya again yet, I'm assuming that you also messed up your Windows 8 booting, from clues in your first post.

You can use EasyBCD to add the Windows 8 partition or drive to the boot manager, while in Windows 7.

Be sure to save in that program after you add it, then reboot and you will have a choice of 8 or 7.

Good stuff. You're welcome. (Goes and scratches head how that erroneous driver was on your machine to begin with lol.)
