BSOD, ntoskrnl+173490 or hal.dll+51c1 (DPC_Watchdog_Viol.)

Since about a year (when I made the switch from Windows 7 to Windows 8/8.1) I'm getting a lot of BSOD's in my HTPC. So far I have discovered that it might have something to do with one of my harddrives slowly crashing (which I am going to replace on short notice), but something tells me this isn't the cause of these BSOD's) cause it's been going on for over a year now. I've got a feeling it has to do with a conflict in the driver for the Intel Graphics chip on the processor (Intel i3-2105). The system often just freezes without giving a BSOD, verry annoying since the last half second of audio keeps stuttering through the speakers at such moments. So the list of actual crashes should be a lot longer than the attachment will provide. In case I really do get a blue screen, it says there has been a DPC_Watchdog_Violation.

For some reason (mostly when watching video) the system crashes and I can't find out on myself where to look for this problem. I have tried removing and replacing my dual channel memory in different configurations but that did not solve the problem, neither did changing the voltage given to the memory. Tried changing videochip drivers, with or without HDMI connected, it just all leads to BSOD's.

I really hope you experts can have a look at the collection of BSOD's I have enclosed and give me some information on where to look for my problem. It's driving me nuts not being able to find the source of the problem. Maybe I'm just completely wrong and the problem will be in something completely different, but I'm about to go crazy on the crashes. All the fun of a well organised HTPC is going away with these constant crashes.

In case more info on my system is needed, just let me know and I will provide.

Dear usasma,

I was about to open a new case with my problem because the BSOD's are making me crazy (like they do to most people experiencing them I guess ;)).

I would really like someone experienced in solving these problems to try and help me out; all help is appreciated!

Looks like a hardware or low-level driver problem to me.
Start with these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Also, there are enough signs here that I have to wonder about this installation. Should this be a pirated copy of Windows, please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

Please provide this report:
