immediately upon starting up prime95, the cpu went to 90 degrees celcius, and even after the fan kicked in, it continued to exceed 85 degrees i am going to not continue running it, unless you think its safe to let some of the cores hover over 85 degrees, also second life is a virtual world type game, its a terror for graphics cards because nothing can be optimized due to practically everything being user generated. also i have never witnessed it happening on any other game. i have always had second life up when i blue screened. although it isnt always in focus
Hi Theroadrun ^_^,
Gee. It seems like I confused with some other game my friends used to play :|
No, it is not safe to let the cores running at that temperature. Prime95 is a test for checking the errors and if temperatures are too high. Could you do one thing? Check the temperature while the game is running i.e. Play the game for like 20-25 minutes while running the Temperature Monitor (I use
CoreTemp) and check out the temperatures and report back.
A simple Google Search reveals that many people are experiencing the Blue Screen with this game -

See if you can aim a table fan directly at the CPU and then try playing the game and see if it still crashes or not. If it still causes Blue Screen, I think it would be better if you could contact the developers of the game because frankly speaking, I won't be able to help you much if it is a problem with the game
Let me know how it goes ^_^
