Solved BSOD random 3 times a day. atikmdag.sys

Hello everyone, Windows 8.1 laptop and i get BSOD for atikmdag.sys. The other issue is when i use the tool that you provided it does everything but when it comes to the zip file nothing is in it. Yes i am giving it admin rights.

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-

This is a very common bugcheck. Generally the stack reveals the driver which caused the problem. Let's check the stack -

It is strongly advised to use the Display drivers provided by the manufacturers in case of laptops because they add special tweaking to the drivers so as to enable the switching between the internal and the external Graphics card when required.

Please run Display Driver Uninstaller from this **LINK**. Once it has removed the current display driver, please install this AMD driver -

I uninstalled the driver, rebooted and installed the driver you posted. hasn't crashed yet but i noticed when i went to device manager i look under display adapters and i now see: Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

Well that is weird. It should say AMD Display Adapter. Are you sure the package installed correctly? I remember that this was the problem with my current laptop that the package would extract successfully but then nothing. Just nothing. Are you also facing this same issue?

Can you try some other Display Driver (AMD) from the below link (Select Display Driver and then Windows 8.1 64bit to filter the list)?

looks like i am facing the same issues as you. When i installed the first software you gave me tinstall and tinstallwb would not load just the waiting cursorer came up and went away, so i went through setup.exe and i guess that just did software not drivers.

So i went to the support page like you suggested and picked the first link for video display and installed perfectly. Screen is a little darker but the display driver is now showing as: AMD Radeon (TM) R4 Graphics

Seems like there is a general problem with Toshiba Driver downloads. Let me know in case you face any further problems. If there are no further problems, then kindly mark this thread as solved ^_^

It just blue screened on my since installing the first one our their support page (same BSOD)

Could you please try the other versions? Use Display Driver Uninstaller before each installation of other driver :)

Check if Windows Update provides you with an optional update for this.
