BSOD possibly from Intel AC 7260 with OpenVPN installed

    Hello there,
I got a new laptop recently, and installed OpenVPN on it. The system started to crash with errors relating to the network driver(Netwbw02.sys IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) intermittently. Tried to reinstall both OpenVPN and network driver downloaded from Intel's site. Uninstalled OpenVPN client and the crash disappears.

Thanks very much for the help.

Hi ChickenJason123 & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.

Let's take a look at the stack -
    Code:
    2: kd> knL
     # Child-SP RetAddr Call Site
    00 ffffd001`235e9a58 fffff800`2af634e9 nt!KeBugCheckEx
    01 ffffd001`235e9a60 fffff800`2af61d3a nt!KiBugCheckDispatch+0x69
    02 ffffd001`235e9ba0 fffff800`89feac74 nt!KiPageFault+0x23a
    03 ffffd001`235e9d38 fffff800`89fdd679 Netwbw02+0x1d2c74
    04 ffffd001`235e9d40 00000000`00000000 Netwbw02+0x1c5679

So, it seems the problem is being caused by the "Netwbw02.sys" which is the Intel Wireless Network Adapter. Let's take a look at the 3rd party drivers present on the system -
    Code:

The drivers used with OpenVPN are known to cause problems
Have you tried using the OpenVPN after removing the Avast? Kindly remove the Avast Antivirus using this **TOOL** and then see if OpenVPN still causes crashes on your system or not.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

It seems that the computer only crashes when using my school's 802.1X wifi network. Using the VPN with avast on normal networks have no problem whatsoever. I reinstalled OpenVPN, avast and Wifi driver, and the BSODs are gone, but the VPN is extremely unstable and disconnects every 1-2 mins.

Thanks very much for the help, I will look for the rest of the problem by myself.
