BSOD - Random. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL & DRIVER POWER STATE

    Hi there

I have a pc that is Windows 8.1 Professional and it is getting regular random blue screens (sad face).
When I look at BluescreenView it shows several IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and some DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

I would be very grateful if you could take a look at the log files attached and let me know what you think might be causing the issue?

    Thanks
    PCTS

    Hi Software Maniac

Thanks for the information and for reviewing the blue screen dmp files. Those drivers that you have pointed out I think are drivers related to USB devices which are plugged into the USB ports at the back of the machine. This is a pc to which hearing aid equipment is connected. There is a ear camera (Otocam) and an Audrical device from the Otometrics company. There is also USB speakers attached to the computer along with a USB keyboard and mouse.

I did some more testing today and I swapped this PC for a spare PC and connected the same equipment. I installed HiPro2 drivers which are required for the hearing aid equipment to connect to the machine and during the configuration of the software the spare pc bluescreened which is leading me to believe the issue is with either the USB device itself or else the drivers used for this device. I will try and see if I can source updates for the drivers you have stated and will keep you posted.

Disconnect them one by one until you find the culprit.

I had this problem last March with new HP laptop. . .

I found out it was the graphics or video display driver. I went into Services and set the associated services to restart the services instead of BSOD and restart the system, while I researched the problem because HP couldn't help or track it down. They wanted me to send it in, and i teach online. I couldn't operate without a computer for three weeks. I rolled back the driver, because the most current on caused the problem, i then installed Blue Screen View and Who Crashed, and reset everything to reproduce the issue. Don't forget to back up your data. I use Aomei Backupper Free. I reproduced it a few times, or tried to, and sometimes the driver or device at issue was the same thing. A few times it was something different. Intel's Rapid Storage Technology Service was the most frequent problem. It is set in services to restart your computer. Right Click on Properties at this service at tell it to restart the service instead of the computer. When you get a BSOD, check Who Crashed. It should tell you what service or services were associated with the crash. Update those service and the drivers with them. It may work. You may have to roll back a driver to a previous version. You may have to tell the service to restart the service, at least until they come out with a fix or patch. Search for one. If there isn't one,; notify Intel or whoever makes/runs the service or driver of the problem. Ask for a fix. If the problem is something you connect via USB, make sure those drivers are up to date (USB drivers). You can set those drivers to restart on failure. I read that the IRQL problem is caused by conflicts with and between drivers. It does not have to restart your system. Make sure damage is not being done to your system by thoroughly researching the problem before simply telling the service to restart. notify the maker/programmer of the service/driver. Ask your PC manufacture for help. Telling the driver/service to restart or rolling it back is only a temporary fix until a permanent solution is available. This one has been floating around for over a year, so you should find plenty. Ask questions, if you don't understand. I hope this helps.

If it was display driver, USB wouldn't be blamed for the crash.

This turned out to be a faulty USB device. This got resolved once the USB unit was replaced.
