Hi,

I have random freezes/bsod/graphics slomo effects on my pc. "random" means mostly, when i'm surfing, netflix/amazon video and playing games (i.e binding of isaac). Sometimes the videos look like slow motion for a few seconds and then continue normally, but sound is crackling. Sometimes it just freezes.

I recently (3-4months) updated motherboard, cpu and ram. After some time these problems started occuring, so i reinstalled windows. Then it was running well until 2-3 weeks ago. Now i am not even able to go 10min without error.

What i've done so far:
1. Full system reinstall with newest drivers etc.
2. Tested RAM with memtest ~8 passes each stick, all OK
3. SSD with some tools, all OK
4. stress tested CPU with prime95 for ~2h for each of 3 presets - no error, temp: min ~30°C max: 80-85°C
5. stress tested GPU with furmark until temp stable ~30min - no error, temp: min ~45°C max 78°C
6. run 4 and 5 at once for some time - no error

7. removed AMD GPU and run on INTEL HD GRAPHICS - still freezes
8. removed all unnecessery components - still freezes
9. thought it's the fault of killer NIC, bought new network-card - still freezes
10. reseated all connections on board and cleared contacts with pressure air - still freezes
11. used other keyboard and mouse - still freezes
12. Constantly monitoring with HWMonitor - nothing unusual happens pefore a freeze

So based on my findings until now, i think can rule out: GPU, PSU?, KB, Mouse, Soundcard, Network Card, Wiring, cooling issues

Now i'm hoping someone can analyse my dumps, to tell me something.

Today I had another crashes/freezes. Yesterday i installed windows 8.1 on another drive, to rule out ssd failure. Currently i have only the systemdrive (normal 7200rpm WD), my amd gpu and noting else besides motherboard and cpu.
These crashes happend in following order: 1. freeze for 30sec + weird sound 2. graphics driver restarted 3. bsod withwhea_uncorrectable_error.

Here are my dumps since yesterday:

What I've forgotten to say: Nothing is overclocked and bios is in default setting.

I've ordered another motherboard to check if error are still present, when i replace my motherboard. Please, somebody take a look at my logs.

Still not solved

Hi,

i don't know why nobody is helping me. I now got a new Motherboard from Asus this time. Installed my CPU on it and made a new installation of windows 8.1. I did not connect anything else to my computer. Still got a freeze without any dump files. So i thought it could be because my PSU is not the newest anymore and switched it too. And now i got another freeze and BSOD with a dpc_watchdog_violation error.

I have attached the new dump information (in english this time):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0bc0r8ib4ixus74/LIMERED-SF_01-02-2015.zip?dl=0

At this point i have replaced everything (besides my CPU) in my pc at least once. Could a faulty CPU produce this errors even if I tested it with prime twice already? My temperatures are still ok, even lower with this new board.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

best regards

Hi, I have still errors/freezes/bsods. What i've done cince the last time:
I've run Prime95 in smallFFT settings for 3h, today i ran blend settings for 6h, no errors.
I've rum hyperPi, Intel Processior Diagnostics (even together with Prme95). I even tried Asus PC Diagnostics, all gave no errors.
So I started to use Driver Verifier and produced plenty of errors, witch are all in this dump: https://www.dropbox.com/s/372c3y8bob8armk/LIMERED_SF_03-02-2015.zip?dl=0

I would have dome more but i needed to do stuff for uni. Hope to hear from somebody soon.

oh...and sfc and chkdsk show no errors

best regards

As far as I can see there is a problem with Intel GPU driver. Please try another version of it.
There appears to be an error in a relation to the CPU.

Ok, thank you for your help. I updated this driver several times now and still got crashes, so i (once again) looked around on the net and found these threads: https://communities.intel.com/thread/54160 and [SOLVED] Anybody using Intel HD 4600 successfully? - AnandTech Forums . In them the solution was to add some voltage to the intel gpu, so i did this and voilà, it works.
Now I'm 6h without crash on this ASUS motherboard. Mostly these crashes happened during streaming. Now i can watch 6 streams at once without problem.

The thing with CPU error. I was having these errors on both my MSI and this ASUS motherboard usingmy old PSU. Since i changed it, all CPU errors went away and there was only this intel driver-issue. I think my PSU was too old (~7Years) and something was wrong with it, event if it is made by beQuiet!

Thank you for taking a look at my dumps. I will update when I transferred my CPU back to MSI Motherboard.

Hi,

I'm back again and my bluescreens too :( I transfered my CPU to my MSI Mainboard now, installed my GPU and tested everything. All went well for like three days, then random AMD driver crasches happened during isaac play. Without bluescreens, only the old "Driver reload" messages. I tried several drivers from AMD, no luck. Today i had my first bluescreen: "DPC Watchdog Violation". Newest dumps attached. View attachment 57982

Btw. the reason i have my RAM on XMP 2 is because without my pc sometimes recovers from freezes. On RAM standard setting it just freezes until i restart. I tried different settings. XMP 2 is the most stable for me.

greetings from germany

The Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service/KillerNetManager is known to cause BSOD's. Please follow the workaround instructions here:
First, open the Run dialog (Win + R keys) and type in "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Scroll down and locate the "Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service" and right click on it. Select "Stop"
Right click on it again and this time select "Properties"
In the dropdown box for "Startup type", select "Disabled", then click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the window

Next, open Task Manager (right click on TaskBar and select "Task Manager")
Click on the "More details" dropdown (if present)
Click on the "Startup" tab
Scroll down and locate the "KillerNetManager" entry, right click on it and select "Disable"
There may also be an Install Shield (with the Killer gaming K next to it), if so Right click on it and select "Disable"
Finally, restart the system in order for the changes to take affect.

At times the Killer Network Manager will continue to load. If so, it's usually listed in the MSINFO32...Software Environment...Startup Programs section. If it is, please try this:
It may be that the instructions aren't stopping everything.
In some cases, there's a program running out of the Program Files/Program Files (x86) directory.
"c:\program files\qualcomm atheros\killer network manager\killer~1.exe" (NOTE: killer~1.exe is most likely killernetmanager.exe)
In other cases, there's a program running out of c:\windows\installer\{Long string of letters, numbers, and dashes}\networkmanager.exe_130c27d738f34c89bddf21bcfd74b56d.exe (the long string of letters and numbers may change)

Here's some things to try
1) Please see if there are any entries in the Startup tab of Task Manager that are related to Qualcomm/Atheros/Killer Network Manager (and NOT the card itself) and disable them (please let us know what you find) Be careful as the wrong selection can disable the network card.
2) Check in "msconfig" for any entries that aren't in the Startup tab of Task Manager. Let us know if you find any Qualcomm/Atheros/Killer entries there (we'll disable them differently if they are there).
3) Locate the "c:\program files\qualcomm atheros\killer network manager\killer~1.exe" and rename the .exe to .BAD (the killer~1 is actually a filename that starts with killer and ends with .exe) There will be an error in event viewer, but it'll stop the bugger from loading.
4) Locate the "c:\windows\installer\{Long string of letters, numbers, and dashes}\networkmanager.exe_130c27d738f34c89bddf21bcfd74b56d.exe" entry and rename the .exe to .BAD (the long string of letters and numbers may change)

Just FYI - here are the MSI workaround instructions: MSI USA

Hi,

thanks for your fast answere. Realtek updated.

I didn't install the Killer Manager in the first place and used the "only network drivers" package from MSI website: Screenshot by Lightshot
I didn't find any mentions of this program taking your mentioned steps.

Where can i get the newest drivers for killer NIC? Every site seems to be down: www.killergaming.com - down and no signs of killer on Qualcomm website. THe driver i have installed is the one from MSI website. should i try this: Guide: Turn your Killer E2200 NIC into Qualcomm Athero AR8161 | TechPowerUp Forums ?

thanks in advance

Do the thing I told you about Killer or Atheros or any of the above mentioned. Depending on which one you have.

I have done all this and i didn't have any of these entries in "services.msc" or "msconfig", here are screenshots of the places . there is no "Qualcom Killer Manager", bacause i didn't installed it in the first place.

msconfig:

services.msc:

c/windows/program files:

and c/windows (no installer folder)

So this Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service/KillerNetManager program can't be the culprit.

What i'm saying is: I can not update the e22w8x64.sys driver because the link (http://www.killergaming.com/support/Downloads) in http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=e22w8x64.sys doesn't exist anymore and my installed driver ist the latest from MSIs website. Even if it's almost 1 year old.

Not even 3dp Net finds a newer one:

I also updated Realtek HD Audio Drivers to the newest ones with 3dp chip:
View attachment 57995

But still the date on MBfilt64.sys is the same "Fri Jul 31 05:40:32 2009"

Do you have some other ideas?

Ok, i'll run driver verifier.

But the driver offered by 3dp Net is older than my installed driver. It says
Local: 8.1.0.23 (3.27.2014)
3dp Net: 8.0.2.42 (3.20.2013)

See you later...

Hi, i'm back. I just wanted to make an update.
I was running driver verifier for some days and the only issue i had were random freezes with repeating sound without any BSOD or dump created. Tried different verifier settings and it was all the same.

So i installed a version of ubuntu on another HDD to rule out Win driver problems. And...same issue: My PC freezes randomly. The only difference is that in linux it will unfreeze after ~10-15 minutes. If it freezes during gaming, i can continue playing when it unfreezes at the same point (in windows it would crash the game).

So i think it's a motherboard issue. I already tested all other components with replacement parts and RAM for many, many passes with Memtest. I couldn't test the motherboard, because i can't get another socket 1150 CPU.

I will RMA the motherboard. But i have to wait two weeks to do that, so don't close this thread, if it takes a little longer. My issue isn't resolved yet. I will update as soon as i have a new/repaired motherboard.

Thank you for help until now and see you soon.

Hi,
I finally found out whats wrong with my PC. After buying and installing anither new Mainboard the freezes continued. So i bought a new CPU for testing purposes. It all works now.

It was a faulty CPU from the begining. The funny thing is, that it passed several hours of Prime in every configuration. I think it had something to do with its cache or memory controller, because with only one stick of ram, it took longer to freeze than with two.

Thank you for all your help and keep up the good work.
Emil

That was my initial suspicion, Prime is not 100% reliable but it can help us pinpoint the issues. I'm glad that you have been able to rtesolve your problem. :)
