BOSD on my GT72Pro Notebook - Please help!

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

I generally only get online in the early morning in the Eastern US (UTC-5 hours).

P.S.: Yet another question - If MSI Afterburner or Overclocking was involved would`t that suggest that the BOSD would happen while the GPU is stressed? I never had a BOSD while gaming - even with max GPU Load. Dont`get me wrong. I`ll refrain from using Afterburner to exclude the stability issues - but...
Maybe yes, maybe no. If it's the driver causing the problem (as is usually the case with MSI Afterburner), then it can happen at any time that the system hits that special place that causes the BSOD. If it's the overclocking causing it, then most likely it should have problems when the system (not necessarily the GPU) is stressed. For example here, if your Northbridge is overheating, you probably won't see anything when stressing the GPU (unless you're also stressing the Northbridge). In addition to all of that, if you stress a certain part of the GPU - and that's not the part of the GPU that's failing - then you'll likely not see any problems from it either.

Please don't rename the dump files - I use the names to sort those that I have to run from those that I have already run.
Have you tried zipping up the memory dumps and uploading them here. I expect that the .dmp extension (along with others) is blocked.

    From the chkdsk output:
There corrections were made to the file system
This says that there was a problem with the NTFS file system on your hard drive - and that it had corrections made.
    1) Please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics Start with the hard drive diagnostics because of the chkdsk results
    2) In a week or two, run chkdsk again and see if it again corrects the file system. If it does, then there's a persistent problem that'll have to be looked into.

Update: Really weired... The Pandasecurity PSUMain.exe suddenly stresses my CPU a lot - with or without verifier settings applied. It occupys up to 50% of my CPU. This was why the Notebook was so slow... I deinstalled it for now (especially as I read about Panda causing BSOD as well occasinonally).
All memory dumps (except for the last one) were caused by psinknc.sys - a driver for the Panda Cloud antivirus.

The latest memory dump points to a networking driver problem, but doesn't point to anything in particular.
BUT, there have been problems with MSI systems recently, and in the past with MSI networking issues.
So, first let's work on these 2 drivers:
    winio64.sys Fri Jun 4 00:08:03 2010 (4C087C23)
Nuvoton Technology Corporation PCIeBridge[br]Part of MSI Dragoon Gaming Center also
    http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=winio64.sys

    NTIOLib_X64.sys Thu Oct 25 06:27:58 2012 (5089142E)
MSI Afterburner driver (known BSOD issues with Windows) Also found to be a part of MSI Live Update 5[br][br]Recently (Nov 2014) there have been numerous instances of this driver in memory dumps. Analysis reveals that they are scattered throughout the filesystem by the installed MSI command utilities. For now I suggest uninstalling them all.
    http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=NTIOLib_X64.sys

Please temporarily uninstall the MSI Dragoon Gaming Center software.
Also, please uninstall the MSI Afterburner software and the MSI Live Update software (this driver was in the "drivers" folder, so it's not likely that it's a part of the MSI Command Utilities.
Then check to be sure that both winio64.sys and NTIOLib_X64.sys are not in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers directory (DO NOT delete them, it may render your system unbootable!!! If needed I can provide a method to safely remove them manually).

Uninstall your iTunes, and download/install a fresh copy. The GEARAspiWDM.sys driver on your system dates from 2009 - and the latest version dates from 2012.

Hi John! No problem there, I am thankful that you care to take time. I just want to understand the issue myself and thought it would be good to log the events/ideas that crossed me as complete as I could.

As to the DMP files I tried to zip them (7z) but they are not allowed in this format.
Do you want me to upload the DMPs with the original names again?

Furthermore: I`ll do as you adviced and will uninstall the programs you mentioned. Then I`ll report if winio64.sys and ntiolib_x.sys are still there.

    Best regards

    Phil

Update: I`ll Deinstalled the following Programs (together with some other stuff like CyberlinkDVD):

    - MSI Remind Manager
    - MSI Supercharger
    - MSI Dragon Gaming Center
    - MSI Battery Calibration
    - MSI BurnRecovery

The MSI programs I did not/could not deinstall are:
    - MSI Fan Control as it helps me to keep the fans quiet (this version is portable / had not to be installed / contains no *.sys files)
    - MSI System Control Manager (this is the only way to switch between dedicated GPU and on board GPU)

    Update:
    - I was not able to find MSI Live Update on my system?!
    - winio64.sys is NOT in C:\Windows\System32\drivers (anymore)!
    - NTIOLib_X64 is NOT in C:\Windows\System32\drivers (anymore)!
    - old iTunes deinstalled -> actual iTunes installed

    Update:
    I did some integrity checking:

1.) on the C: Intel Raid 0 VolumeE
    Error Scan
    Scanned data : 244102 MB
    Damaged Blocks : 0.0 %
    Elapsed Time : 3:56

    2.) on internal HDD: HGST
Error ScanScanned data : 953488 MB
    Damaged Blocks : 0.0 %

Hi there and thank you for the infromation.

As to my problem - After all went well at first (see my last post), I had to face unexpected trouble yesterday in the evening. After the deinstallation of the MSI apps the overall performance of my GPU went down in an extreme way. In several programms I had massive frame drops due to downclocking of the GPU. Reinstalling drivers did not help.

In the end only the playback of a mirror image from Dec 24th fixed it. So it does not seem to be a hardware issue but some kind of throttlestop performed by one of the MSI apps...

    I was really frustrated...

I try to deinstall the apps one at a time now... and will have to see. Of course I`ll load up the dumps...

    Best regards

    Phil

    Hi!

I cought this DUMP with verifier on (again while ideling! I am working for an hour now... with verifier on - and no problem?!). For this time I kept the MSI Products but tried a new Anti-Virus-Program. Could you please check if ti was the 360 Anti-Vir? or could you tell how to see which driver crashed?

    Best regards

    Phil

P.S.: I had no bluescreen/restart without verifier since I deinstalled PANDA SECURITY and reinstalled iTunes and all Drivers and firmeware I could get

P.P.S.: I allready learned a lot thourgh this erros and through your posts and this forums! So Thank you very much!

Update: I downloaded Microsoft SDK: This is what I got. If I guess correctly, is this the network thing again?

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

You've done a great job with the debugger!
Please see step E at this link to set your symbols: WinDbg Analysis Report

In most cases, when the system crashes the debugger will blame the module that owns the memory space that the crash occurred in. In this case it was nt (ntoskrnl.exe or ntkrnlmp.exe). When this happens we presume the following:
    - we rule out 3rd party drivers (over 90% of BSOD's are due to this)
    - we rule out hardware (less than 10% of BSOD's are due to this)
    - we then look at Windows problems (less than 1% of BSOD's are due to this - as long as Windows Updates are fully up to date).

And, since ntoskrnl.exe/ntkrnlmp.exe is the kernel (core) of the Operating System - it has lot's of built in protections. As such, it's not likely to be at fault (and if it was, you'd be seeing many more problems other than the occasional BSOD).

We then look at the Stack Text to see if there are any 3rd party drivers there (in your case there aren't).
Then we look at the rest of the report.
In this case, we see evidence of Ndis related to the verifier enabled crash.

NDIS stands for Network Driver Interface Specification ( http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...82001339,d.eXY )
As such, we have to suspect something that's accessing the network.

We're now at the point where we need to extract a bit more info out of the memory dump. I use an automated program to do this, but you can do the same thing by using the command !analyze -v;!thread;r;kv;lmtn;lmtsmn;.bugcheck (type this in the box at the very bottom of the active debugger window) and then press Enter

So, looking at the memory dump below, I note that the winio64.sys and the NTIOLib_X64.sys are both present in the memory dump. I also see RTCore64.sys so it may be linked to something from MSI that you reinstalled. If so, what did you reinstall?

So, my question is - did this memory dump happen before or after you made sure that they weren't in C:\Windows\System32\drivers?

Please note that while 360 Anti-Vir is in the memory dump, it's not necessarily to blame (but we haven't ruled it out either).
It's not likely to be at fault though, because you were having BSOD's before you installed it.

The next thing we'll look at after the above stuff is these 3 drivers:

So, looking at the memory dump below, I note that the winio64.sys and the NTIOLib_X64.sys are both present in the memory dump. I also see RTCore64.sys so it may be linked to something from MSI that you reinstalled. If so, what did you reinstall?

So, my question is - did this memory dump happen before or after you made sure that they weren't in C:\Windows\System32\drivers?

    ...

The next thing we'll look at after the above stuff is these 3 drivers:
tbhsd.sys (more info on it here: Driver Reference Table - tbhsd.sys )
rsvcdwdr.sys (more info on it here: Rsvcdwdr.sys driver | What is Rsvcdwdr.sys file? )
RrNetCapFilterDriver.sys (more info on it here: Malware scan of rrnetcapfilterdriver.sys (RadioRip) 5270a06acf151cc862f418b0171b5f8ccbc59694 - herdProtect )
(FYI - they are merely the next oldest drivers in the debugger's output)
    Hi John!

First of all: Thank you for the hint concearning the debugger!

Then: I am afraid to say that - as I had this drastic throtteling issues with the graphics card after deinstalling the MSI programs - I reinstalled them all again to the result that the latest DMP file is had NTIOLib_X64.sys and WINIO64.sys present together with the reinstalled MSI Afterburner (the source of the RTCore64.sys).

As you see above I now start uninstalling MSI Programs one at a time (NTIOLib_X64 from MSI Supercharger ist allready gone) to see which effect this has on the graphics card. I presume that MSI Dragon Gaming Center has some sort of throttelstop effect on the graphics card... So lets see. I am SORRY that I reinstalled Afterburner again as well but I had to monitor the for the above reason.

The only positive thing I can say that - even though they were installed - none of the drivers (NTIOLib_X64.sys / WINIO64.sys / RTCore64.sys) are or were locates in the "C:\Windows\System32\drivers" folder. I hope this helps?

Third: Does it even make any sense to work on the next drivers you suggested (updating tunebite for example) while those two MSI drivers still hang out on my system? Don`t I have to try to sort them out first?

Once again best regards and Thank you for your help!

    Phil

P.S.: I laughed so hard when I read your comments on your system specs. Seems like you have no bluescreens - but many other projects to work on regarding your notebook ;-P

Wow... One Moment! The drivers you mentioned...

tbhsd.sys (more info on it here: Driver Reference Table - tbhsd.sys )
rsvcdwdr.sys (more info on it here: Rsvcdwdr.sys driver | What is Rsvcdwdr.sys file? )
RrNetCapFilterDriver.sys (more info on it here: Malware scan of rrnetcapfilterdriver.sys (RadioRip) 5270a06acf151cc862f418b0171b5f8ccbc59694 - herdProtect )

They all belong to the same software: Audials one.

An this software made my system freeze yesterday (see the extraction of DMP below) - without bluescreen at least - but this was the only freez i expreienced in the last 5 days in normal mode (without having verifier on)...

    Could this be a trail?

    Best regards

    Phila

    Update:

I installed a actual version of Audials One so those drivers...

tbhsd.sys (more info on it here: Driver Reference Table - tbhsd.sys )
rsvcdwdr.sys (more info on it here: Rsvcdwdr.sys driver | What is Rsvcdwdr.sys file? )
RrNetCapFilterDriver.sys (more info on it here: Malware scan of rrnetcapfilterdriver.sys (RadioRip) 5270a06acf151cc862f418b0171b5f8ccbc59694 - herdProtect )

...should be recent now. Perhaps this helps?!

    Best regards

    Phil

Update: Verifier crash again. I analyzed it allready (the method you mentioned)
