Power Driver State Failure

Turning on the computer or after some time of use sometimes gives the BSOD power_driver_state_failure. after resetting it usually enters the windows. Could anyone help me with this problem?

So, the driver "ATAPI.sys" is the one who is blocking the IRP packets which in turn leads to the System Crash. This driver is the "ATAPI IDE Miniport driver" and is a part of the operating system. Since, it is a part of Windows, the chance of it being at fault is extremely less. So, it could mean that there is something 3rd party which is causing the trouble. I have highlighted a driver in RED. It is known to cause problems with some Windows systems. Kindly uninstall any MSI product (MSI Afterburner/ MSI Live Update 5) from your system.

Update your Intel Chipset drivers and Intel Management Interface drivers.

Thanks for the responses.


I used the Windows 8.1 on this computer for about a year without any problem either, so he had to be formatted and then a few days later began the BSOD.


I performed the following procedures:
- Run SFC / Scannow and no errors were found.
- Do not have Alcohol 120 and / or Daemon Tools installed.
- I installed the Intel Update and said there was no available updates.
- Stopped the nVidia Kernel Streaming service.
- Uninstalled the MSI Live Update.
- Updated the drive Realtek PCI / PCIe Adapters.
- Realtek High Definition was already installed the latest version of the available drive.
- Vidia Video drivers were already installed the latest version of the available drive.
- Windows Update showed no new updates.
- Not a new BIOS available.


The computer did not error in the last 24h. But the BSOD does not always happen. If within a few days there are no new errors as put the topic as solved, but post the new error.

I came back.
The BSOD stopped. No blue screen appeared again. But sometime my monitor off for three seconds and when it returns the following message appears. "Display NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver Driver, Version 344.75 stopped responding and has successfully". and the computer functions normally until the error again.


Could anyone help me? Sorry if it is not the right place to ask.

The error you are experiencing is regarding the Display Driver not receiving a response from the Graphics Processing Unit in a timely manner and hence you are seeing Windows reset the adapter automatically.
Use the Display Driver Uninstaller from this **LINK**. Once you have successfully removed the current version of the NVIDIA Driver, try different versions of the driver like try a driver which is a bit old, or the latest BETA Drivers.
