Your dumps are severely corrupt :( . But, fortunately, we got one of the dump files to talk. It seems that the NVIDIA Driver was causing the IRP blockage due to which the bug check was occurring. It seems you are not running the driver from your manufacturer. For laptops, it is strongly suggested to use the driver from manufacturer since they do tweaks to the drivers so that the Graphics Processing Unit Switching works so as to favour performance when required and battery life when required.

Kindly run the Display Driver Uninstaller from this **LINK**. Once it has removed the NVIDIA Driver, kindly reboot your machine. Once it has rebooted, download the latest NVIDIA Driver from the below link and install it -
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/xps-l502x/drivers

Kindly update the highlighted drivers as well.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hey, thanks for the help.

I encountered a few System Thread Exception Not Handled. (Nvlddmkm.sys) BSOD errors but after reapplying the BIOS mod and lowering clock speed on my GPU, my system works for now. Tried playing a few games for some time and all is good for now.

I'll update again if I run into any issues later.

It seems you haven't installed the correct version of the NVIDIA Driver. According to your dump files, the version is from 2012 whereas on the link I provided you with, the latest version available is dated 2013. Kindly re-run the Display Driver Uninstaller and install that version. You need to make sure that the Operating System selected on that page is Windows 8 64-Bit.

Also, kindly update your BIOS (Available at the Support Page for your laptop) since it is very old. The newer BIOS adds enhanced support for Windows 8. Please note that updating the BIOS is a very risky process and even a small mistake could damage the motherboard permanently. So, please make sure you read the instructions properly.

Furthermore, please update the above highlighted drivers like I asked in my previous post.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hey, thanks for checking up on this again!

I downloaded the drivers from the link you gave, couldn't find any other links for updated drivers. I checked the version from the website and couldn't find the 2013 driver download link.

My BIOS is version A12 which is also the latest on the website so not sure where you can see the newer one?

For third party drivers, I updated all of them to the latest versions I could find..

Even thought the page says updated 31 Dec 2013, the actual driver download still links to version 305.42 which is from 26 Oct 2012.

Yeah, my Intel drivers are up to date.

I jumped straight from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 but I wasn't facing issues in either until about a few months ago.

I guess there might be an actual hardware issue related to GPU overheating.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Aurum ^_^,

Let's check the hardware as well. Kindly run Furmark Test below and report back the results -

FurMark download site
: FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net (appears to be bundled w/bloatware now - 12 Aug 2014)
Try downloading from one of the major download sites. Here's a link to it at Major Geeks (as of 12 Aug 2014): Download FurMark - MajorGeeks
FurMark Setup:
- If you have more than one GPU, select Multi-GPU during setup
- In the Run mode box, select "Stability Test" and "Log GPU Temperature"
Click "Go" to start the test (Looks like it's "BURN-IN test" now)
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).
NOTE: Set the alarm to go off at 90ºC. Then watch the system from that point on. If the system doesn't display a temperature, watch it constantly and turn it off at the first sign of video problems. DO NOT leave it it unmonitored, it can DAMAGE your video card!!!
If the temperature gets above 100ºC, quit the test - the video card is overheating.
- Click "Quit" to exit

What you are looking for:
- excessive heat from the GPU (report back with anything over 90ºC)
- problems with the video display (picture is distorted or jumbled, picture turns black, etc)
- problems reported by the program (I haven't seen this, but "just in case")

Dual Video Cards:
Some tips for dual (or more) video cards:
[TIPS] How to Enable SLI and CrossFire Support for OpenGL Applications | Geeks3D
(Tips) How To Enable SLI and CrossFire Support for MSI Kombustor 2.0 | Geeks3D

If it still doesn't work, test the cards individually.

Let me know how it goes ^_^
