    Currently, I'm about 20% through with the 3rd pass on memtest and it's taken three hours.... Still no errors. I'm curious, why do I need to let it run through eight passes? Luckily I have my old PC to use in case I had any issues with the new one. Glad I kept it!!

    Because of reliability. The more damaged RAM the quicker the errors will show and vice versa, but it's somehow a rule of the thumb that we run them for eight passes, and if it finds an error until then, we leave it for even more, if it doesn't we stop the test.

    Sounds good to me, softwaremaniac. I just wanted to ask. At least I have my other PC (which I'm on now.) I'll probably let the memtest run all night to see if it finds errors. That should give it almost 24 hours of testing. If it has no errors after that amount of time, surely my RAM is ok. =)

    If that doesn't work, should I go back to Driver Verifier to push the PC into another BSOD and then upload a new diag file?

    Each test performs a series of patterns by writing data to random memory locations then reading it back to compare the two addresses; if any are different then we get errors.

    Yes, but make sure that you uncheck Low Resource Simulation and Force Pending I/Os.
    @Briggs: I concur.

    Good Morning, All!

    My PC had memtest running all night (and most of yesterday), through 9 full passes and 60% through the 10th pass, with no errors. It's been running for almost 21 hours. Is it ok to stop it or should I allow the 10th pass to complete?

    Ok, thanks. I'll start the Driver Verifier next. =)

    **Edit: Is there a report I need to post from memtest?

    Not even 10 minutes after I enabled Driver Verifier, it crashed. No BSOD, just a black screen and then it restarted. My new log file is attached...
