Today... I was using adobe photoshop v14 . And when i went to ctrl+s a 200x200 psd file (about 5 layers(1 pic, and 4 texts)), the save window came up, but a lot of it was white (the buttons).. it pretty much just showed the side of it where the network/cloud/c drive/etc. was, but everything else was just a big white box. I've had it freeze on me before (one other time) and this time i decided i was going to take a snapshot of what i had, so i could reproduce it better, and not have to remember everything that i did exactly).. once i took 2 screen shots (one of the area from what i could see of the graphic, and one of the layers. using Screenpresso, I told the capture popup to close, and it did.. i figured i would click somewhere within photoshop to make it speed up and realize that it has frozen so it would put a fade like whiteness over the entire window and then tell me that it had encountered a problem and loading info about it.. but when i did this, it didn't do anything... then when i went down and right clicked the window on the start/task bar to bring up the thing to exit it... a solid white box showed up where usually the "minimize, maximize, pin to taskbar, exit" and such shows up. then my mouse icon went to the busy icon, and then i couldn't click on anything, and the sound went into that horrid electronic hang sound, and after a few seconds the screen went black, and then popped up a light blue screen of death... where the hang sound was still going without a break until it restarted. it also gave me the little tiny font saying to look up "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" if i wanted to. as i know, anything "Corrupt" isn't good when it comes to electronics lol..
I'm not entirely sure, but i think my HDD might be dieing on me.. i really hope not... as i am lacking money to do anything with it. (i say this because it sometimes sounds like it's dragging its metal feet against hard plastic (i haven't even filled this thing up completely yet lol.. still have 200 and something gb's to go. it almost always clicks. I built this one back in dec of 2009. and have added RAM and a new graphics card with it since... i think i have like 8gbs of ram, and i recently bought a graphics card a few months back because i wasn't too thrilled with the on board graphics circuit, and my previous graphics card went into jet pilot mode, and it was the last place i looked to find the source of its sound lol (itty bitty fan making all that noise.)).
Although i dont know what this is coming from... as i was in a high graphics type program, but also it was when i was trying to save.
Sorry for the length of this.. can anyone help me? even if its just a temporary fix. it will be months before i can buy anything for it.
~ Thanks! ~
ps. lol theres a story behind the compy's name. it follows a trail of previous computers and previous window versions. (DeathSnail, UpdatorOfDeath, etc. )
