    BSOD BAD_POOL_CALLER related to anodlwfx.sys

I started getting BSOD on October 28 and I've contacted Microsoft and my WiFi adapter's manufacturer to sort the problem out but it's not happening. I get the BSOD whenever using the internet heavily, such as watching a Youtube video, streaming on Spotify, or having too many windows/tabs open at once.

I get either the error code BAD_POOL_CALLER or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. A Microsoft community member told me that, based on my dump files, my problem was related to the driver anodlwfx.sys. Looking the issue up, it seems to relate to WiFi adapters or having multiple anti-virus programs but neither of these issues seem to be the case, although I don't ever get the BSOD when offline and my WiFi adapter is unplugged.

Apparently the driver can be corrupted by malware or something, and when I hover over the file in File Explorer, it tells me that it was created on October 28, the day the issues started occurring, so I'm wondering if I can replace or fix the driver somehow, as my internet doesn't work at all when I alter the file. I've seen people link the file to ALPHA Networks, which is no help whatsoever.

Or maybe I'm totally off-base and the issue is something else. Regardless, thank you for the help.

Most likely the BSOD is being caused by the driver named ="anodlwfx.sys" which is very old and is a networking driver for your TrendNet Device. The information on the DRT is not correct for this driver. It says that it is a part of Alpha Networks. I will have it edited

I checked your Event Log and this service/driver was installed when the TrendNet Wireless Software was installed. Furthermore, the event log says that since this is an Interactive Service, the service won't function properly as the system has disabled the interactive services. You can read more about these kind of services over **HERE**. So, firstly, I would suggest you to enable the Interactive Services. Follow the below guide -

    1. Open Command Prompt and type in "services.msc" (without quotes) and hit Enter.
    2. Select the Interactive Service Detection from the list and right click on it
    3. Select Start
    4. Right click Properties
    5. In Startup type select Automatic.
    6. Click OK
    7. Reboot system

Now once this is done, follow step 1 again and open up the Services Window. Find the service named "TRENDnet_Wireless" & "TRENDnet_Wireless_WPS" (There might be a very small variation here). Now, do the same for these two services like you did in Interactive Service Detection i.e. Starting them and then selecting Startup Type as Automatic. Check the system for stability.

If the system is still not stable, I would suggest you to completely uninstall the TrendNet Software and then check the system for stability.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

In regards to the services, none of Interactive Service Detection, TRENDnet_wireless, or TRENDnet_Wireless_WPS would Start when I hit Start (Interactive Service Detection gave me "Error 1: Incorrect Function", both TRENDnet services said "Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs"). I still changed Interactive Service Detection's Startup type to Automatic, but the TRENDnet services were already set to Automatic. Still, nothing changed.

Now the uninstall application for TRENDnet won't even open at all, with a Windows box sometimes popping up for troubleshooting (but now even that has stopped). I'm not sure if I should just delete the files or what.

Okay I deleted everything related to TRENDnet and I still have the problem. Would getting a different WiFi adapter help at all?

    Hi ^_^,

Remove the Wifi Adapter and see if the BSOD's still persist or not.

My computer has never had a BSOD when the WiFi adapter was unplugged/uninstalled, but I have no way to connect to the internet without it. So I have no way to tell if the BSOD is directly related to my WiFi adapter specifically or my computer's connection to the internet itself.

blueelvis is out of town. I'll provide some suggestions for you until he gets back.

    1) update the TrendNet software to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version. If none is available, consider getting a new WiFi adapter that is compatible. The way to test would be to get another adapter that uses a different interface (such as a wireless PCI/PCIe card that plugs directly into your motherboard).
I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win8/8.1 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win8/8.1 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.
    2) remove the AhnLab HackShield program (I'd seen problems with this in the past)

    3) remove Gigabyte EasySaver. If EasyTune is also installed, uninstall it. (I've seen BSOD problems with these for years)

Do I definitely have those programs? I could only find Easy Tune on my system, and I've uninstalled it, but Easy Saver and HackShield I cannot find.

I tried to get a PCIe card before, but I didn't realize there was only one slot left on my motherboard, and it was partially covered by my video card. It didn't fit the slot anyway.

If it doesn't fit the slot, then it's likely not the proper form factor. PCI is different from PCIe
But if the video card prevents you putting one in, it doesn't matter what form factor it is.

For now the most important thing is updating the drivers for the wireless USB card.
If unable to find updated drivers, then I'd suggest purchasing a new device that is compatible w/Win8.1

Some people can use the USB wireless cards without any problems at all, others have consistent BSOD problems.
Other options are moving the computer nearer to the router/modem so that you can use a wire (even if it's a long, long wire - under 100 yards/meters is OK). You could switch video cards to open up that slot, or you could get a new motherboard that has slots that you can use.

FWIW - I'm not real worried about the HackShielf stuff unless it continues to show up in the memory dumps.
Remove any of the Gigabyte power saving utilities - it contains the Easy Saver driver (a known BSOD cause on some Windows systems)

Just FYI - I'm also worried about the USB audio device - but will see if it turns up in subsequent BSOD's.

    Good luck!

I tried looking yesterday for a PCI card that was even compatible with Windows 8.1 and I couldn't find one. They're all PCIe, which I apparently have a slot for, but the video card that came with my computer covers it completely, so I've never seen it.

I'll try a new USB wireless card. I was worried that I'd still have the problem with a new one, and then I'd be out $10-40. I'm in an apartment complex without wired connections, as well (which is ridiculous), otherwise I wouldn't have even bought a wireless adapter in the first place.
