    Random BSODs

I have been having the occasional BSOD for a little while, but lately they have become more frequent. Many times while trying to upload large video files to YouTube, but also while just browsing the internet, or playing games. It is quite frustrating. I built this computer earlier this year. Here are the build specs:

OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - Full Version

    MB: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Gaming Motherboard

    CPU: AMD FX-9590 Vishera 8-Core 4.7GHz Socket AM3+ 220W Desktop Processor - Black Edition

    RAM: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 Desktop Memory Model

POWER SUPPLY: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W

HARD DRIVES: (Main drive) SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD512BW 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Also have Corsair 256GB SSD, and WD Velociraptor 500GB from old build

    GPU: ASUS R9290X-DC2OC-4GD5 Radeon R9 290X 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0

OPTICAL: ASUS Black Blu-ray Drive SATA Model BC-12B1ST/BLK/B/AS

I understand that this is a very important problem for you and that you'd like it solved as soon as is possible. But there are other circumstances that you may not be aware of. Please read this pinned topic about waiting for a response: Have you been waiting for a response?

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.
NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.
Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install". Reboot for changes to take affect.
Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.
Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

The drivers that are struckout don't have updates available (AFAIK).
DO NOT delete them, just leave them be.

Beyond this, start with these free hardware diagnostics: http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html

Sorry about the impatience. I didn't realize how busy you guys were. I used to use 7forum, and it was pretty darn quick, but i guess there aren't as many people knowledgeable on windows 8, and probably far more problems.

I was attempting to update, and go through the list as you described. when i got to the Matrox, I uninstalled the existing drivers, and attempted to install the new one. the installer then told me I have no Matrox hardware and would not install. Tried rebooting, windows failed and i had to restore. I took a new snapshot with the Diagnostic Tool to see where I am at now. I also found that my MB bios was out of date, so I fixed that also.

Have you had any BSOD's since you restored the system?

The memory dumps are of many different BSOD errors, and that is usually symptomatic of either hardware, compatibility, or low-level driver problems. Please start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
