Hi, I have a brand new gaming pc, since the first day I get one or two BSOD (WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR) usually when I play a game, but sometimes I can play the same game for two hours straight with noproblems.

I followed many internet advices, like disabling some BIOS option (like Intel C-state), performing memtest (0 errors after 7 hours) and slightly incrementing RAM voltage (this last test gave me 2 BSOD-free days, but the problem returnd)

Please help me :(

I work the topics from the oldest to newest, so each time that you "cry for help", it moves the topic up later in the queue.
I suggest reading this topic for ways to get our attention:
I understand that this is a very important problem for you and that you'd like it solved as soon as is possible. But there are other circumstances that you may not be aware of. Please read this pinned topic about waiting for a response: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-crashes-debugging/48165-have-you-been-waiting-response.html

But, I'm responding now, so let's see what you've got..........

This device has problems in Device Manager:
WD SES Device USB Device USBSTOR\OTHER&VEN_WD&PROD_SES_DEVICE&REV_1019\574D43315433333135333836&1 I driver del dispositivo non sono installati.
This is related to the wdcsam64.sys driver. The 2008 version of this driver is a known cause of BSOD's in some Windows systems. The solution here is to uninstall the Western Digital software - please do this and let us know when it's done.

Your TP-Link software has drivers that date from 2009. I have seen instances recently where they are suspected of causing BSOD's in Win8 and 8.1 systems. Please update the software to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version.

All of the errors are STOP 0x124's. These are errors that the CPU detects and reports to Windows. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

Please start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
Also, run the Large FFT and Small FFT tests in Prime95 (run until you get an error, or for 24 hours - whichever comes first).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hi, thank you for your help, I followed your suggestion and I took some time to understand if the problem was solved or not.

The short answer is: the problem persists :(

Basically I updated the WD drivers (and disconnected the external hard drive) and uninstalled Power DVD.
I already updated the TP-Link drivers to the last version (8.1 compatible), and I don't know how to update the D-Link drivers (your link redirects me to a generic D-Link webpage).

For about a month I got just a BSOD a week (oddly, always on sunday...), but in the last weekend I get a BSOD basically everytime I play.

Today I ran a Prime95 small-FFT test and I got a BSOD after a couple of hours.

What could it be? Is my CPU faulty?

Thanks for your support.

Not a problem softwaremaniac! This is a public forum and I don't mind others popping into the topics that I'm working!

I fixed the link for the DLink stuff - it's actually the TP-Link stuff (and is also used by DLink). Disregard the references to DLink.
Please also update your wireless drivers, as some wesites associate the outdated driver with an Atheros device.
If that doesn't work, is it possible for you to use a wired network connection for a short while. If it is, then remove the wireless stuff and see if using a wired connection without any wireless stuff installed will stop the BSOD's.

Prime95 tests (basically) 3 things:
- RAM
- memory controller (on the CPU with i7 and i5 processors)
- CPU cache

But it also stresses system components, so it can generate heat that crashes the system also.
Have you been monitoring your temps? If not, then try this free tool: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

To help rule out the CPU, you should run RAM tests (such as MemTest86+) and CPU tests (such as the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool). There are links to both (which are free) at my page here: Hardware Diagnostics

Please note the tmp2AB1.tmp driver in the previous dump. It's usually a component of RealTemp and it causes problems on some Windows systems. We've also seen this pattern of temporary dump file naming with CoreTemp and the LoL game. If using RealTemp or CoreTemp, please uninstall them.

The system exhibits signs of a low-level problem. This includes:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case. Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

If unable to test without the wireless, we can manually remove the older driver in order to see what it does (and do it in such a way that you can put it back if it's needed). Please let us know (and continue with the rest of the hardware diagnostics).

Hi JohnyCicala ^_^,

Could you please run a system wide manual search for the term "WinRing" and then post back the results? It would help us to add more information to the Driver Reference Table.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hi, thanks again for your help!

- for the tp-link drivers, it's strange that that's an old driver, before the first post I already downloaded the latest one from the same site you linked (TL-WDN4800 - Benvenuti in TP-LINK). How I can get rid of these old drivers?

- it's difficult for me to try a cabled connection, but I want to try to use the PC completely offline to see if the wireless is causing problems. How do I get rid of the wireless connection? (it's enough to disconnect the wi-fi or do I have to do something more radical?)

- during the Prime95 test I was using CoreTemp to watch the cpu temperature. After your post I deleted CoreTemp, but during the test the temperature seemed fine, always around 88°C at 100% load. Do I have to run Prime95 again without any other program running?

- I tried MemTest with no error after 7 hours

- I searched WinRing, with no result

Thanks again :)

Old drivers aren't necessarily a problem - but they have many more problems than do newer drivers.
If the memory dumps continue to show the older drivers we can remove them manually.
But the testing without the wireless should prevent that driver from showing up in the memory dumps (if they do continue).

The best way to try not using the wireless is to disable the device (in the UEFI/BIOS - not in Device Manager) or remove it completely from the system. This includes removing (uninstalling) the software for the device.

88°C is awfully high for a CPU. What were the other temps in the system? (I'm most curious about the video temps)
have you worked on the cooling system to see if it might be a problem?

Your Prime95 test was fine. The objective was to stress the system - and 88°C is pretty stressful on the CPU!
As MemTest passed - now try the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool (to help rule out the CPU).
If the Intel test passes, then the likelihood of it being a hardware issue with the RAM or CPU is low (for example, another hardware problem is overheating - and it's a real possibility here).

So, Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool was successful, woo-hoo!

A friend of mine checked his CPU temps (our configurations are very similar), and running Prime95, the max temp was around 60 so this could be a problem.

I noticed that my CPU fan in idle is at about 450 RPM while my friend's is at 1200 RPM in idle. Should I try to set an higher fan speed? What would be a good speed? Should I do it from the BIOS?

As always, thanks for your help!

It all depends why your system isn't cooling well. Try a program (such as Speedfan) which offers fan control. See if a faster speed helps your cooling.

But realize that it may not be just the CPU. There are plenty of other things within the system that can overheat.
The way we used to test it at work was to reach inside the case and feel around after the system crashed. Be sure to unplug the system from the wall and ground yourself before reaching inside the case. And realize that overheated components can cause SEVERE BURNS - so be very, very careful to only feel near a device and DO NOT TOUCH IT!!! I got second degree burns from accidentally brushing against an overheated video card a couple of years back!
