BSOD when trying to connect to wifi

I have this middle line DSL through AT&T Uverse. My personal pc connects wirelessly to the router which is hooked up via ethernet cable in the living room to my house pc.

At night sometimes the router will seem to half crash, and when I wake, I find a limited wifi connection. On trying to reboot and automatically connect to wifi, I get a BSOD every time - Unless I go to the living room and reset the router manually. Only then can my wifi re-connect without a BSOD.

But this should not happen at all. I should never get a BSOD even if the router/modem is messed up - it's not physically connected.

When the router acts up it effects both PC's but the home PC windows 7 in the living room does not BSOD.

Any ideas?
