There are several Live Kernel events in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report.
    Please do the following:
    - open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
    - expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
    - right click on Administrative Events
    - select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
    - save the file as Admin.evtx
    - zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
    - upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here: Windows Kernel event ID 41 error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first" in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2

Alright I did what you said, hopefully I did it correctly and let me know if not. I'll check out the other things you linked as well, thanks!

There are repetitive errors (just before the system crashes) of attempts to read the hosts file.
I have to wonder about malware - have you performed any scans for malware?
Here's a list of free scanners (it's older, so you'll have to find one's that are compatible w/Win8): Free Online AntiMalware Resources

ah, I'm still having no luck.

First I tried Free Malware Removal Tool from Microsoft

Then TDSS killer which is really powerful isnt it?

I did full scans with all of them and each came back with nothing.

Then I tried ESET online Scanner. This one picked up about 16 things but it didn't say in much detail to what they were. I should have saved the log but it mostly said adware. The word Trojan popped up but I don't actually think it was one. Anyways it either quarantined or deleted the files and I think it messed with an important system file because when I restarted it, put the computer to sleep to test it, it came back up with a black screen. I could still move my mouse but it wouldn't restart. Finally it did after a little but then couldn't start up. Eventually I got the thing to do a system restore and now we're back to square one unfortunately.

Maybe I'll just invest in a new one

If you can afford it, it's always nice to buy new stuff!
If not, then we'll continue to work on this.

FWIW - I'd have to suspect malware here. I'd suggest posting over in the System Security forums for more expert help with this tho' - I'm just not that good with malware. Here's the link to their forum: System Security - Windows 8 Forums

The Black Screen error is usually very difficult to fix. I've spent weeks trying to repair these errors without success. Now we just try System Restore and if it doesn't work, then we wipe the hard drive and start over with a fresh copy of Windows.

So, another option is to backup and then wipe the system and reinstall Windows.
Wiping the system will erase all traces of malware (and will wipe out all your data also)
Then a fresh install of WIndows will be squeaky clean!

Don't forget to scan the backup with a new and updated antivirus - as there's no telling if the bad guy saved itself to one of your data files/folders.

    Good luck!
