Hi guys!

I got a new laptop last month and I have been having some problems with graphics drivers & games not wanting to run properly/at all. Earlier today I got a BSOD (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL nvlddmkm.sys) when I tried playing some League of Legends and I would appreciate some help with determining what I need to do.

Thanks in advance

It appears that according to the Dump files, the NVIDIA Display Driver has been blamed. But, I wonder whether it is the real cause or not as playing LOL means you were doing heavy activity over Network & Disk. It seems that you have got two Antivirus - McAfee & Avast. Having more than one antivirus is bound to cause trouble as both compete for resources and files and if one is reading the file, the other cannot. Certain such conditions lead to BSOD's.

Hence till the time we are troubleshooting, please remove both Mcafee & Avast using this **TOOL** & **TOOL** respectively.

Furthermore, it appears that your NVIDIA Driver is a bit behind than the Lenovo's Driver for your laptop. Please run this **TOOL** to eliminate NVIDIA Drivers from your system and then install the latest ones from this **LINK**. I hope it is the correct product.

Also, do you get these crashes only when you play LOL?

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hi Blueelvis!

Thanks for helping me out with the BSOD problem I had, I have yet to have another one since your answer. I have however started having Display driver crashes every now and then, especially when I put my graphics card under load. According to the Event Viewer in Windows it is error 4101 and nvlddmkm that is the reason for the crashes. I have tried several times to use DDU and install the drivers from Lenovo, but it only helps for a little while before the problems come back. I have also tried running the Windows memory diagnostic tool without finding any problems (I read that the RAM might be one of the reasons for this problem). Today I encountered another problem with the Nvidia drivers, whenever I restart my computer the drivers do not function. I therefore need to install the Nvidia drivers every time I reboot which is quite a hassle. Do you have any idea what my problem might be? Perhaps a faulty GPU?

Thanks again for you answer! :)

Hi Santa ^_^,

My first question would be, has the problem related to BSOD's been resolved?

The problem you are encountering is the TDR Timeout. It occurs when the GPU is unresponsive for some time and Windows forces it to reset the adapter so that the user experience is not hampered. You might be experiencing a flash as well when it happens.

There is a workaround for this problem and that is to change the TDRDelay in the Registry to a higher value. Please follow the below guide to set it up in the Registry :-
Open regedit then -
Navigate to -
H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Graphics Drivers.
Right click on the open field and click on New / DWORD (32bit) Value,
Then name it: TdrDelay -> double click it -> Set the value to 8.

Furthermore, I found another thread over here which was having a similar problem like you :- http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...splay-driver-nvlddmkm-stopped-responding.html

I would suggest you to use DDU once and then install the Lenovo Drivers and check for problems. Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hi blueelvis!

I used your method of fixing the TDR timeouts and it worked for a while and I was able to play some games. But when I tried playing some today I instantly started having the driver crashes and even experienced two BSODs. I ran the diagnostic tools again so that you can further look in to the problem.

Thanks!

Hi Santa ^_^,

I am extremely sorry for the late response as I have been very busy since few days :(

Unfortunately, the ZIP file uploaded by you does not contain any recent dump files. Please upload the latest SF Diagnostic ZIP File and I will take a look at it :)

Hi blueelvis!

Thanks for your answer even though you weren´t able to help me :p. I resently did a system reset which at first seemed to have fixed the graphics problems. I installed the latest drivers from Nvidia (340.52) which at first seemed to work, but I have started having the graphics crashes again... One thing I noticed though is that when running processes with a high load on the gpu the drivers instantly crashed, but if a ran a program with low load on the gpu I did not manage to make the drivers crash. I therefore tried playing some LoL once again, this time turning down the graphics settings all the way down and it has only crashed a handfull of times. I then tried turning the settings up and the drivers started crashing all the time once again... I read in another thread that a guy had had similar problems and decided to return the gpu, I am also contemplating returning my laptop to the store I got it from to see if they can fix it.
