Random BSOD when I start my laptop

OK, I am experiencing a strange problem on my Windows 8.1 laptop. For the past few days, most of the time when I start my laptop after at least 12 hours of not using it, I get a message "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart". So it shuts down by itself and restarts. This time, on the 2nd attempt, I did not get the message. This happens about 80% of the time.

On an additional note, I would like to add that I have 2 hard drives, each 1TB in size, in my laptop. I also noticed recently that whenever I start my laptop, there is a message on Drive 1 which says "Error Occurred". The font colour of this message is red. On Drive 0, there seems to be no problems because the font colour of the message is green. (I can't exactly remember the exact message). I am using Data Stripping (0) by the way so my total hard drive size is approximately 2TB.

Please advise. Thanks. By the way, my laptop is only 10 months old.

Please follow the below steps, one step at a time :-

    1. Please update the above highlighted (BOLD) drivers.
    2. Please remove MalwareBytes using this **TOOL**.
    3. According to the dump files, there is a Disk Hardware error specifically "ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc000000e - A device which does not exist was specified.". So, there might be a possible Disk Hardware Error. This could also be due to loose connections so I would need you to replug those connections to your HDD's. Please follow these free Disk Diagnostics over **HERE**.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

OK, this is what I did. I downloaded and installed the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) software. I clicked on "mark system as normal". That installation resolved removing the flag off the member in the array. I am not sure that it did anything to fix it, and not sure if it will prevent anything from happening in the future. Time will tell.

There is no more "error occurred (0) message and I am not getting BSOD. (so far).

The question is, may I ask humbly, why should I uninstall Malwarebytes? This is a great software and it prevented many viruses from entering my laptop.

I would also like to add that I am using a laptop and not a PC. I hardly move my laptop anywhere. So this could not be due to loose connection. I am also not sure how to replug these connections to my HDDs.

Lastly, must I really update the drivers you have advised me to do? My laptop seems to be working fine now after installing RST.

Your advise in this matter would be much appreciated. (By the way, I don't have a blank CD yet)

    Hi Blanchflower ^_^,

Intel RST has been a nuisance in the past when the system Bugchecked for no reason and the only driver present in the Stack (Most of the times) was only Intel Rapid Storage. The removal of the Intel RST was also not done completely by it's software and the remnants still caused the BSOD. Hence, I did not ask you to update Intel RST since I did not saw any problem with that.

Regarding the questions you are asking, do not ever hesitate to ask questions ^_^. I am always happy to answer them.

In many cases the BSOD are caused due to the Antivirus/Anti-Malware conflicting with the drivers causing BSOD. That is why I asked you to remove Malware Bytes. Few days ago, Malware Bytes was very actively present in the BSOD's and the STACKS and removing them fixed the problem. Hence, I asked you to remove that. The removal of the AV is generally followed by most of the analysts I know of and it is like a thumb rule to me as well.

If the PC is working fine then don't do the rest of the steps. Like many say :- "Don't fix it if it is not broken :P ".

Test your PC extensively as in many cases it happens that the BSOD stop for some time but return again in some other form.

If the problem is resolved, please mark this thread as Solved ^_^ and in case of further problems, do not hesitate to post back ^_^.
