Hi I've been experiencing BSODs for the past week and was using Windows 8. As many system files was corrupted I thought it was causing by my faulty hard drive. So, I freshly installed Windows 8.1 Pro x64 on my PC. Then, I installed all required drivers, Avast! Free Antivirus, Comodo Firewall and some softwares. Now again I am getting occasional BSODs. Even sometimes when my computer becomes active from idle mode it automatically restarts and after reboot it shows information about last BSOD.

I checked minidumps with nirsoft's BlueScreenView and got that those BSODs are caused by the same ntoskrnl.exe error 0xc000021a. I am no expert when tackling BSODs. I would greatly appreciate any help offered on this matter.

Thank you.

Hi RickDutta & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I apologize for the late reply but there are not many BSOD analysts and sometimes we do get overwhelmed as well ;) . Your patience is appreciated.

I have analyzed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of them for informative purposes :-

Please follow the steps below, one step at a time :-

  1. Please update the drivers highlighted in RED as they are very old and the chance of them being compatible with Windows 8.1 is extremely less.
  2. Please remove Avast & Comodo using these **TOOL** & **TOOL** respectively.
  3. Your BIOS dates back to 2008 which is extremely old. Please check if there are any updates to your BIOS from the Motherboard manufacturer/OEM. If no update is available then you would have to downgrade to Windows 7 and see if you are getting BSOD's or not.
  4. Please run Driver Verifier using this **GUIDE** and make sure you let it crash for atleast 4-5 times.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Thanks blueelvis for your time. I was playing with some network discovery settings. And somehow those tweaks worked and no BSOD for 4 days :D. Though now I can not remember what I changed. However, I will try to update some old drivers as you mentioned in reply.

Thank you...

Glad to hear that the issue has been resolved ^_^. In case of any further BSOD's please do not hesitate to post back ^_^.
