    BSOD when playing games

Hey guys im a new member og this community and i hope you can help me out

My problem is only happening when gaming and at random times, i also have crashes to desktop, but i dont know if the 2 problems are realated. Anyways lately i have been getting some BSODS thats mainly looking to be related to ntoskrnl.exe and ntkrnlmp.exe when i look in "whocrashed"

Im not very technical so i don't know how to read the logs properly, thats why im here. Thanks in advance!

I uploaded the .zip from the SFD program from your website along with the latest minidump files (080514-4031-01 beeing the latest). Tell me if i need to upload more stuff

Please follow the below steps :-

    1. Please remove Gigabyte Easy Saver - mobo power utility driver as it is known to cause BSOD's. Once you have uninstalled the software, make sure that the "gdrv.sys" is not present on your system after a restart. You could check this by Uninstalling the software, restarting the system and then searching your computer for this driver file.
    2. Please remove your NVIDIA Drivers using this **TOOL** and then install the latest BETA drivers from NVIDIA Website.
    3. Please check Gigabyte Support page for your system and see if there are any other available updates or not.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

ty for the warm welcome and ty for your quck answer its very much apreciated!

    1. I tried finding the gigabyte software you where talking about but i can only seem to find the gdrv.sys file and not the actual software. Should i just remove that file and that shuold do the trick?

    2. Im already running the latest WHQL Driver from nvidia, should i rarther roll back to the recent beta instead?

    3. There is some drivers avalible for my MOBO when i use my gigabyte utility software as seen on my links, do i need to install those?

    1. Simply search the file and then rename the file to something else. If that does not do the trick and it is still re-generating, let me know and I would give you further instructions related to it.

    2. Let us complete the first step and see. I asked this because in many cases, the dump file pointed out Direct X and your NVIDIA Driver at fault so we cannot ignore it in case the problem is still not solved.

    3. I would suggest you to update the Drivers.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

    Hi KingZolo ^_^,

Please follow the below steps to disable the regeneration of that file :-

    1. Press the "Windows Key + R" to open up the Run Prompt and then type in "Services.msc". This would open the Services Dialog Box.
    2. Search for the GDRV Service. Right click on it and then click on the Properties.
    3. Once the properties dialog box is open, in front of the Startup Type label, there would be the dropdown combobox to select the options. Click on it and then select "DISABLED".
    4. Click on "OK". Once you have done this, rename the "gdrv.sys" and then restart and see if it is regenerating or not.

What you could do is also test the system if it is stable or not by simply removing the "gdrv.sys" and then not restarting the system and testing it for stability.

If you see various Gigabyte services, please post the list and I would tell you which ones to disable ^_^.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

    Hi Again Blueelvis

The GDRV.SYS file is nowhere to be find under "services.msc" the only Gigabyte service i could find in there was "Gigabyte Adjust" which seems to be related to Gigabyte app center and its already disabled. I can see when browsing that the file belongs to a proram named "gigabyte tools" which i can't find on my computer what means i cant uninstall it either.

I tried renaming the gdrv.sys file as administrator as well with no luck, it still regenerate

    Whats the next step

    Whats the next step
    Hi Kingzolo,

Uninstall any MSI software on your system and see if the file is still regenerating or not. By the way, does your system crash if you delete and file and then keep on using the system without a restart?

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

When i delete the file i can keep using the system, the file first regenerate it self when restarting.

Ive deleted all MSI software and the install files.

There must be a Service in the Services.msc which is running and regenerating the file (According to me!). Open up the Services Dialog Box, click on Action and then click on Export List. Save the text file by giving it a name and then attach it in your next post please so that I could see which service is left out from MSI which is still running.

Also, the service which you need to disable would be titled only as "gdrv" (As per your Event Logs), so search again in the Services Control Box and see if you could find it and disable it

If the crashes are still occurring, I would need a freshly generated SF Diagnostic ZIP file as well to analyze further ^_^.
