Event ID 41's are simply WIndows' way of saying that it doesn't know why it was shut down. Most often it's due to overheating, BSOD's, or even by holding the power button down when you shut down/restart the system.

Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Your BIOS dates from 2012. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard (using an "in-Windows" utility for this will avoid most of these problems).

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.
NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.
Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install". Reboot for changes to take affect.
Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

You must update your AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller (ahcix64s.sys) as the driver dates from 2008 and likely incompatible with Win8/8.1 I'm uncertain where it comes from - but I'd start with the AMD chipset drivers

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

The memory dump dates from May - don't place too much emphasis on it as it's not likely to be related to the Event ID 41 errors.

Well here is where i am at this point...extremely frustrated after spending a couple hours a night for 3 nights now..

i am sure i am not having a heat issue..have a program that monitors cpu and graphics

Bios--i am unable to find out if my bios can be upgraded(see explanation below)..the only thing i could find was on hp support site and was from 2012(when pc was new)..so i am guessing that was last version..i also read that this can be risky as you stated and should not be performed unless you are sure your os is stable which i am almost certain at this point mine is not.

first red item from what i have read there is no upgrade to be done

i removed amd overdrive

second red item..completely removed the entire program as i dont need any of its features or have other programs that can do what it does

i tried to update raid controller(although i am not using it)...but i seems there is also no update for that.(this pc has run on it since it was new and had win 8 installed)

i cant find out about my chipset drivers because somehow my motherboard is not even listed on gigabytes site anywhere and after serching for about 30 minutes i cannot find any info on it (
M3970AM-HP (Angelica2) amd 970 chipset)

i was able to download update to catalyst controller from amd site and it updated my video driver i think..it says there is a new catalyst driver (version 14.4)...have tried to download it about 10 times it failed once and i got bsod the rest of the times.

I am almost sure it must be some software issue in microsoft because as soon as i go to control panel i get bsod..if i use any utility i get bsod...if i download anything through browser i get bsod..if i just do "normal web browsing" without trying to download anything etc it seems relatively stable...i can play my game(D3) for hours and never any issues...it is only when i let the pc idle for more than a few minutes (regardless of what i am doing) that this happens (95%) of the time..i have had a random bsod but it is almost exclusively when i idle or use any windows feature...i tried restore but i either got bsod or message file was missing or corrupt..tried refresh a few times but it wasnt able to complete before bsod.

For reference it took me about 45 minutes to write this up and no issues at all..if i go to control panel or use a windows utility like scan or something i will bsod in 5-10 seconds.

i am not sure if the beginning of your post was a standard message or you want me to do that in addition to the file i attached earlier...i tried to do that but when i try to save it first asks me to choose a language and then tell me the file cant be found..if i open it manually it says some files may be missing due to errors?..not sure what that means.

Thanks again for any help you can offer.

The Event Viewer thing is a standard speech that works most of the time.
Let's see if the following stuff helps

Try this:
Then please run the following DISM commands to see if there's any problems with the system (from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt). Press Enter after each one:
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

FYI - I have repaired systems using the last command even though problems weren't found with the first 2 - so I suggest running them all.

From this article: Repair a Windows Image

You can also run sfc.exe /scannow from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt to check for further corruption.
Then try to run the Windows utilities. Let us know what happens then - if it still crashes I'll most likely suggest a complete wipe and reinstall of Windows (with new installation media - if possible).

thanks for reply unfortunately i am now kind of stuck...after my last post(before seeing this one)..i did try windows utility to check my devices(not the method you described just used device manager)..it said all were good (memory check hd check gpu check etc)..i then read that these utilities really are not very good so i tried to download and use memtest86 i think it was..i was not able to get it on disc due to crash....then a string of real bad things happened....after the crash my pc re-booted and a balloon popped up saying files were ready to be burned to disc..pc went right to bsod (about 5 seconds)..then rebooted..this cycle became endless..reboot..message..crash...finally windows went to "automatic repair"...it did not work but i was able to get into recovery and decided it was time to just wipe it and start over as much as i didnt want to do this...i chose complete reset instead of refresh..it seemed this was going to work and then a screen came up saying that it had failed...now when i boot it either says "preparing" or "preparing automatic repair"...then it will say windows failed to boot properly and i am given recovery options...i tried the complete reset a few times most times it gets stuck at 44%..one time it got into the 90's but then failed...i am posting this from my old pc i had in my closet as at this point i cant do anything on the pc in question..i am able to hit f8 and get into that menu but if i try to use any diagnostics the pc freezes as soon as i select anything(not bsod just freezes)..is there anything i can do from here?..somehow hook the hd to this other computer to fix it?..i dont have discs for recovery due to being and idiot and not buying some dvd's to burn them to..i could burn discs on this pc but i am guessing microsoft wont allow me to download win8 on this pc? i am not sure if i can get to a command prompt because after failure it wont let me do anything unless i reboot(after failure all options seem to not work i get various messages basically saying whatever i am trying is unavailable or had not worked and even my hd is locked here and there?) once again thanks for your time and help.

Due to the problems that are occurring early in the boot process, I have to wonder if your hard drive is dead/dying.
Try the bootable Seatools diagnostics: SeaTools for DOS | Seagate

Beyond that, you may want to hook the hard drive up to your other computer and backup your data that way.
Or, if you're able, tap the "Esc" key when booting, and select the Diagnostic menu from the results - try the hard drive test there.

If the system is under warranty, HP will want to see that it fails their HDD test before replacing the HDD under warranty (in most cases).

Also, you can order recovery disks from HP (and they're much, much cheaper than purchasing a full copy of Windows!). Here's a link to some instructions for those in the US: Order Recovery Discs (USA) Please note that this page dates from 2012, so some minor changes may have occurred.

i cant thank you enough for the hp link..i never considered i could just order the recovery discs..long story short i was able to hook it up to other pc..hd test came back bad..then tried built in utility on the original pc and it seems the hd is shot..i am shocked as it is less than 2 years old and i am running other hd's from WD that are over 10 years old...i know this is getting way off topic but am i going to be "allowed" to use theses discs on the replacement hard drive in that system? i have plenty around fortunately :).

If the system is under warranty, you can have the repairs done by HP (or by the company that holds the warranty). But to get the part (the hard drive) you have to fail the HP diagnostics.

Beyond that (if you don't have a warranty) you can put any hard drive in that you'd like. The disks should work, but I don't recall having tried it with a different size hard drive (at work) in the recent past. A long time ago I was swapping 1 tB drives for 640/750 gB drives without problems (Win7/Viista).
