Repeating BSOD DPC Watchdog Violation

    Hi!

I'm happy to report that my computer hasn't crashed in 3 days now. This may just be luck, but let's hope it's not.

Might as well continue with updates. When you say OEM, would that for me be Dell? Or Realtek? I'm a little confused on what OEM refers to.

As for the dump files, I haven't seen any new ones. I checked ProgramData, but the ReportArchive folder is just full of other folders which each contain a .wer file. However, none seem to contain dump files. Do you need any of the .wer files?

    Thanks!

    Keep on testing it ^_^.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer which in your case would be DELL. If no updates are present on Dell's Support page then try Realtek.
In case of further problems, I would be needing the WER report from the latest incident although first test your system extensively

Once you are sure, we would be installing the latest Intel Graphics Driver

Bad news. Computer crashed. While using the web. At a seemingly random time. BSOD was frozen too. Ergo, no new dump file. Woo.

Sooooooo I guess back to figuring out what to do. I still haven't figured out how to update the Realtek USB Mass Storage Driver. I've attached a screenshot from device manager of what I think you're talking about. How do I find an update to this driver? I've tried right clicking and updating the driver, but it didn't find anything.

Also, which airplane mode switch do you want me to get rid of? There are two. I've uploaded another screenshot for that.

    Thanks,
    Rneogy

Yeps, that is the Realtek Device. You could try by right clicking it and then clicking Update Software and then searching the internet. You could also try going to Dell's website and then checking there if there is any update to it or not.

Did you try the Hard Drive Dignostics? Also try the RAM Diagnostics by following this guide over here :-
RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Help Forums

Did you try using the Driver Verifier and see if it generates the Dump files or not? Do one thing, search your computer for this string :- "*.dmp" in your system and see what results it comes up with?

The online search for the Realtek didn't find any update, and there doesn't seem to be any update available on Dell's website.

How do you do Hard Drive Diagnostics? As for the RAM diagnostics, it mentions removing sticks of RAM at some point, and I'm on a laptop, so I'm unsure as to how feasible that is.

I searched through my computer for *.dmp, and I found several dump files, though none of them date from today's crash. I've attached a screenshot which shows their location, name, and date. The second one is the Watchdog one I previously sent you.

Could you explain how to use Driver Verifier to see if dump files are produced? I'm don't really know how to go about this.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Sorry forgot to add the link for Driver Verifier. Here it is :-
Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers - Windows 7 Help Forums

Follow the instructions very carefully. Could you please remove PC Doctor and see if the crashes continue to occur in Chrome only? Does IE work as usual? As for the RAM Diagnostics, first run the test and see if there are any errors or not. The removal of the sticks is that part when we find ERRORS so we need to make sure if there are any errors on the RAM or not.

Regarding the Hard Disk Diagnostics, follow this :-
    Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

In your next post, I would want you to upload your latest Event Viewer Logs and instructions on how to do that are below :-
    Please do the following:
    - open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
    - expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
    - right click on Administrative Events
    - select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
    - save the file as Admin.evtx
    - zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
    - upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

    Hey guys,

Sorry for the late reply. Got busy for a few days and didn't get back to troubleshooting.

I installed the Realtek driver. I also tried saving the Administrative Events, but that gives me an error message. I've uploaded a picture of it.

I've been really crunched on time, but I'll try to do the Driver Verifier and RAM tests tomorrow.

Oh I forgot to mention, this crash doesn't only happen when I'm surfing the web. I don't know if that matters, just letting you know since you were asking about if it crashed when using Chrome. The computer has crashed while watching videos from my hard drive, playing games, and even right after it wakes up from sleep.

If there's anything else I need to do, feel free to tell me.

    Thanks!
    Rneogy

EDIT: Oh I also tried some Hard Drive Diagnostics. I used SeaTools for Windows and ran the SMART Test, the Short Drive Self Test, the Short Generic Test. The Hard Drive passed both tests. I can run the longer ones if necessary, but apparently the short ones should tell quickly if there are major problems.

The short test only spot checks the drive, the long test will fully test the drive. I haev had hard drives pass the short test (we run that when the customer first comes in) and then I've had to chase them out into the parking lot because the long test failed as soon as we started it.

Usually when you get the Event Viewer error that you've posted, if you click OK you can then work with the snap-in
Sometimes there'll be another error after that one, but when you're through the error messages Event Viewer will work OK.

Please follow Usasma's advice and post back the results. Also, post the dump files when you run the Driver Verifier and it crashes ^_^.
