Hi BSOD Hater & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analyzed your dump files and all of them have the same error i.e. Driver_Power_State_Failure with a bugcheck code of 3. The dump files on further analysis blamed the "atapi.sys" and the "cdrom.sys". Below is a summary provided for the dump files :-

Please update the drivers above. Please follow the below steps :-
1. Remove Daemon Tools as it is known to cause BSOD's in many Windows Systems. Once it has been un-installed, follow this **FAQ** and make sure you remove the Duplex Secure's "SPTD.sys".

2. Update the drivers for your ATK Utility from ASUS. If there is no update available, then open up Windows Update. Let it check for the driver updates. Once it is finished, check it's Optional Update List and there must be the ATK Driver Update. Download it, install it and then restart your PC.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

Several Problems

I had several problems, iv'e bin trying for about 90 minutes now. the first one Realtek i didn't understand anything of what they asking about network interface controllers (is there an autodectect or something), the second one i think i updated that correctly, third leads my to the same page so i hope i got that one with the second, with the fourth one i don't know how to make windows update check for driver updates.
fifth i cant find a windows 8 version for my i5, sixth i had to remove deamon tools so why should i update drivers for it. step 1 i followed the faq and downloaded the installer but the uninstall option in greyed out because "No SPTD version was detected".
I know a lot of questions, little to much maybe. i hope you can help me. thank you for your time. :)

Hi BSOD Hater,

First, since you have removed the Daemon Tools, see if you are getting any further BSOD's or not. I think that should have solved it. If the installed says NO SPTD Version detected then leave it.
Regarding your Realtek Drivers, download and install the Windows 8 64 bit drivers from this **LINK**.

For the ASUS Downloads, I am not able to see what motherboard you are using, but go over this **LINK** and run their Auto Detection Tool and download the available updates.

Please follow these steps only once you are done with ASUS support webpage. Do not flash the BIOS as of now.

Regarding Windows Updates, follow the steps below :-
1. Press Start (Windows) button.
2. Type in Windows Update.
3. You should get an option of Check For Windows Updates as search result. If no result then click on the settings tab in the Search Window and click on the Windows Update. (Sorry, I am using Windows 8.1  so the instructions might be a little different).
4. Click on Check For Updates.
5. Once, it has found updates, click on Choose What updates to download and look for the Optional Updates.
6. See, if you have an ATK Utility update.

It is better to ask the questions rather than do something silly which could cause further problems:p.
Let me know how it goes ^_^.

Hi again thanks for helping me. i installed the Realtek drivers no problem. And i indeed have the Asus P7P55D (just the regular one). In windows update i checked for updates and it found 3 optional updates, it seemed to me there where no ATK Utility updates though (Screenshot provided(0)). After clicking install updates it did its things, and it eventually gave an error message (screenshot provided(1)). I did restart. But i think that wasn't the problem. I don't know what it was about, but maybe you do.
Tanks for your time again hopefully we can fix this.

Ps: deamon tools couldn't have bin the problem because i've had the same BSOD for much longer than i have deamon tools installed (i installed it like a month ago)

Please remove Daemon Tools while we are troubleshooting (it helps eliminating the possible causes). I checked the above Windows Update Error, you could check this Microsoft Support Article which should fix your problem :-
Windows Update error 0x80073712

Do what has been asked in the Microsoft Support and see if you are still getting BSOD's or not.

Unfortunately, the drivers found over **here** for your ASUS motherboard are only for Windows 7 64bit, so if the issue is not resolved, you might have to downgrade to the Windows 7. Btw, did this problem occur in Windows 7 as well?

But, don't just downgrade right now.

Still a problem

Hi, i think the problem as of the BSOD is solved! Because i did not get in like a day. As of the Asus drivers i don't think that they are needed anymore. But supposedly important update still wont install, even after the trouble shoot thingy said he fixed it :sarc:. I provided another screenshot of the update that's causing problems.

And i have another question, can i now upgrade to windows 8.1, And that all the drivers will keep working properly. Because i saw some cool new features in 8.1!

Again a lot thanks for your time.

I had removed Deamon tools at your first post already, bit of a misunderstanding there;).

Hi BSOD Hater,

This would be my 400th post over this forums and I am glad to hear that you have solved your problem. But, please make sure that you have tested your system extensively before confirming it.

It is always a good idea to keep the system updated but I follow the rule :- "Don't fix it till you don't have any problems".

Regarding the update to Windows 8.1, it is over you to install or not. But, some people had problems with updating to Windows 8.1 due to requirements of new drivers and all. Furthermore, since you have an old BIOS dating back to 2011 which could further add to incompatibility.

But, there is another side of the coin as well since there have been people who are running an old BIOS and all and no support for Windows 8.1 as well but running smooth as butter. I am in that category. My Toshiba dates back to 2011 and it is running absolutely fine with Windows 8.1 even though I have old BIOS.

So, in the end it would be up to you to upgrade or not. But, if you don't have any problem in reformatting and all then you could surely give it a try (I was also scared a bit while installing :p ), as you could always downgrade if you face any problems.

In case of further problems, do let me know ^_^.
