Partially. I tried to update the BIOS firmware, but I'm not sure I did it right. I do have the latest intel chipset drivers and video driver. I will reseat my RAM and CPU tomorrow... my programmer buddy is coming over, and he is going to help me do that and apply some new thermal paste for the CPU. I'm AFK until then, but I'll check back in when I have done those things. Thanks again.

Hello again. I'm back with some interesting updates.

Today I went back and updated all of the drivers associated with the motherboard, the video card drivers, and all of the drivers I could find from post #2 and post #6. Some I had already done, but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything, so I started from the beginning. I successfully updated the BIOS firmware from version F3 to F5. I also reinstalled Chrome just in case there was an issue there. I reseated the RAM and CPU, and applied new thermal paste. I think it slightly improved the temperature situation when running stress tests... it's not perfect, but a run of 10 with the IntelBurnTest still came back successful.

Maybe more to the point: Did any of this solve my BSOD problem? The answer is no. Certain YouTube videos still cause my computer to freeze almost instantly while using Chrome. Now, here's the interesting part. Some YouTube videos run to completion without any problem. Weird Al's "Word Crimes," for example. Others crash every time. Horrible Histories "Battle of Marathon" is still reliable if I want to see that happen. This is only when using Chrome, however... I have not experienced any issues while playing the same videos using Internet Explorer.

    So weird!

Have you ever uninstalled Chrome completely and re-installed ? For testing purpose, if you wish, try Firefox to see if the problem still exists.

EDIT: Sorry, just saw that you did re-install Chrome

Yea, try what Topgundcp has asked you to do.

It is really strange that only some videos are crashing and that too in Chrome only. In the meanwhile, please re run the SF Diangnostic Tool to get the latest BSOD's while you are running the Battle Of Marathon and upload those dump files so that they could be analyzed.

Stilll pointing at Chrome.exe. Did you try Firefox as suggested ? In addition, You are using an Acer 24" Monitor and Windows is using a generic monitor driver. Try to update the driver for your Monitor also.

    Hi Mattmartin,

I have analyzed your dump files and all of them are the same. Now, since the hardware passed the stress test, I think the problem is something else. Most likely it is your Gigabyte Easy Saver as there is presence of "gdrv.sys". Is this something you installed recently before having BSOD's? Because I cannot find it in your previous Dump files.

Please remove this software immediately from your system and see if it stops giving random BSOD's.

blueelvis, did you mean gigabytle easytune? That's what is mentioned in the linked thread above. I do not have that installed, and to my knowledge, never did. I'm not sure what else grdv.sys is associated with, or how to remove or disable it.

topgundcp, I downloaded Firefox to test the videos, and I experienced no problems. I looked for drivers specific to my monitor, but it appears that they do not have any for WIndows 8. However, I am not sure that is part of the issue, since I have plugged my tower into a few different monitors and televisions, and my results have been the same regardless of what display I'm using.
