Various BSODs most are related to nvlddmkm.sys driver.

I have been getting some random BSOD errors the past few weeks. Most of them are related to the nvlddmkm.sys driver, according to BlueScreenView. They tend to happen if I am using Skype, playing any game, or just using Chrome. Also, they happen 8 out of 10 times if I restart, or log off of my user account. The dump has been attached.

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs. Make sure you select "Grab All"

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

While you're waiting, it won't hurt to run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings I suspect hardware to be the source of your problems, but this will ensure that we don't miss any suspect drivers.

    Windows 8.1

I have attached a new zip file with the info of new BSOD's that have happened. The two outdated drivers were related to old/sketchy software that I have now removed. As of right now my data usage is not allowing me to download the Hardware Diagnostics, so if we could get the driver side of things cleaned up first, that would be great.
After posting this reply I will set up driver verifier.

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

MSI Afterburner (along with Riva Tuner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

TrueCrypt has security issues ( TrueCrypt ) Please uninstall it.

The AFC.sys driver still remains and is dated from 2006. It must be removed.
If you can't figure out what it's a part of, try this:
    1) Create a Restore Point using System Restore
    2) Create a Repair disc (Recovery Drive in Win8.1):
    Win 7 - Go to Start...All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc
Win 8 - Press "WIN" and "R" to open the Run dialog...type "RECDISC" (without the quotes) and press ENTER
Win 8.1 - Go to the Start Screen and type in "recoverydrive" (one word, without the quotes). That will start the recovery drive process. You will need a USB drive of at least 512 mB - and all data will be erased off of it. If copying the recovery partition the drive size will be much, much larger (16 - 32 gB drive required).
    3) Test the System Repair disc/Recovery Drive to make sure that you can get to the System Restore entry when you boot from the disk/drive (you may also want to try actually using System Restore to make sure that it works)
    4) Download this free program (Autoruns for Windows) and use it to disable any instances of Afc.sys that are starting (or any other Arcsoft entries) (DO NOT DELETE - only disable by removing the checkmark in the left hand column)
    5) Check in Device Manager (to include showing hidden devices from the View menu item) and ensure that any instances of Afc.sys (or any other Arcsoft entries) are "Uninstalled" (DO NOT DISABLE THESE).
    6) Check in the Services applet (services.msc) to be sure any instances of Afc.sys or any other Arcsoft entries are disabled.
    7) Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and rename the Afc.sys driver to Afc.BAD (search the hard drive for it if it's not in C:\Windows\System32\drivers).

In the event that the system doesn't boot:

    1) Boot from the System Repair disc/Recovery Drive and use the Command Prompt option to rename Afc.BAD to Afc.sys
    Code:
    ren C:\Windows\System32\drivers\Afc.BAD C:\Windows\System32\drivers\Afc.sys
    2) Boot from the System Repair disc/Recovery Drive and use the System Restore option to restore the system to a point before the changes were made.

    Good luck!
If this doesn't stop the BSOD's, I'll be awaiting the results of Driver Verifier.

    Windows 8.1

Alright, EVGA Precision and Truecrypt have been uninstalled. Afc.sys has been disabled. I don't know if I was overclocking, so I set the performance mode to normal in my BIOS settings. The computer did BSOD with driver verifier running, and bluescreenview lists verifier.sys in the driver details. Here is the dump.

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

The verifier enabled memory dump blames the kernel (core) of the operating system.
If this was the case, you'd have many more problems other than just the occasional BSOD

What this means is that the most likely problem here is hardware/compatibility/low-level driver problems
Windows problems are also possible - but are less likely (there are only a couple of steps to fix Windows problems)

    So, let's try this:
1 - update outdated components (Realtek wired networking drivers (Rt630x64.sys), Realtek HiDefinition Audio (RTKVHD64.sys), AMD USB filter (usbfilter.sys) - likely a part of the AMD chipset drivers/USB 3.0 drivers, and NetGroup Packet Filter Driver, part of the WinPcap packet capture library (npf.sys) - if unable to find an update for WinPcap, please uninstall it).
2 - Windows repairs (DISM, SFC, ?maybe a Refresh?)
Then please run the following DISM commands to see if there's any problems with the system (from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt). Press Enter after each one:
    Code:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    Code:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    Code:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
FYI - I have repaired systems using the last command even though problems weren't found with the first 2 - so I suggest running them all.

From this article: Repair a Windows Image

You can also run sfc.exe /scannow from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt to check for further corruption.
3 - then hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
4 - then hardware stripdown: Hardware Stripdown Troubleshooting
The raw stack text shows issues with the networking components - so I'd start by troubleshooting them.
5 - then backup, wipe and reinstall of Windows

    Windows 8.1

I was able to update the Network drivers, and have run the DISM commands, as suggested. Command Prompt said that the corruption was fixed, and I have restarted. I am going to let this play out for a bit as I will be busy for the next few days. Thank you for the help! Hopefully I will get a bit of time to work on this tomorrow.
