DPC WatchDog Violation

I have Samsung NP-RV515 A01-US. I upgraded to 128gb ssd. I got dpc watchdog violation for the first time today after runing updates. Uninstalling doesn't help. Upon boot every time after 60 seconds. No luck. I know there are threads here about this but not my exact issue. After running msconfig and unchecking services and startup all was fine. No error or blue screen after even 15 minutes. Then I checked startup and all was good. So one of the services was causing this. After a while I narrowed it down to "Windows Event Log". I verified this by rechecking it and I crash after 60 seconds. Disabling this works. I can log in here and write all this. Been 30 minutes and no crash. So that is the bad guy.

Why is that. What does windows event log have to do with watchdog? And can I permanently leave that off without problems?

I also have avg internet security installed if that helps. I got the 3 pack at the store. 1 for me and also so I can use it on my moms pc also.

Hi & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

We would be needing the dump files to see actually what is causing the issue. Please follow this post over here and attach the SF Diagnostic in your next post :-

http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

You could read a bit more about the Windows Event Log Service over here :-

Windows Event Log Service

I would say that this service is essential to troubleshoot as it generates the required logs which are in many cases are found to be extremely useful should anything happen to your PC.

We can observe that in each case the error is same that is the DPC timer exceeded it's allotted value. Furthermore, every time the "Netio.sys" is blamed but the problem is that it is a Windows component and the chance of it being culprit is extremely rare. Furthermore, everytime the BSOD occured, the process name is the AVG. Below is a list of 3rd party drivers which were present on your system. Please update these components and see if the BSOD stops occurring or not :-

Tune Up Utilities is known to cause BSOD's in many cases, so please remove it from the system. Also, the presence of the driver named "ssnfd.sys" means that there is an Adware Infection of the family "Search Snacks" on your system. Please follow this guide and remove it from the system for a much pleasant browsing experience :)

Remove "Ads by Search Snacks" virus (Removal Guide)

In case the problem is still not solved, then I would have to ask you to remove your AVG Antivirus as generally popular Antiviruses cause the Netio.sys fault. Please use this Removal Tool to clean your AVG Installation :-

In case of further problem, please do not hesitate to post back ^_^.

I'm sorry I appreciate all the help. But this is too confusing. So I just decided to reformat. I backed up first of course. I got 8.1 finally. But now I can't enter the store. It says time zone settings may be incorrect. But its not I double checked.
