bsod 109 critical structure corruption -BattleField Heroes

    Hello,
After some searching on the web and my own troubleshooting, I came here and found some helpful people, so I'm hoping you can help me too!

History: Win 7 PC working fine. Loaded Win 8 and system crashes. I did find some bad memory (replaced all RAM) reloaded and Win 7 again runs fine, but 8 crashes. HDD passes full seagate diags and RAM passes MemTest. Oh, I also swapped the video card at one point with no relief in crashes.

I enabled Driver Verifier as per several suggestions and the system would blue screen fairly quickly (less than 5 minutes) after logging in, but didn't seem to happen when not logged in (maybe it takes a lot longer).

I am pretty sure this is a driver issue, but I'm not sure where to go from here. I have attached the SF log. The easiest way to reproduce it on a regular basis is running Battlefield Heroes, but I don't think that specifically is the issue.

    TYIA for your kind assistance!

Hi Sflesch and welcome to the forums ^_^,

Sorry for the delayed response as there are not many analysts who do the BSOD hunting and at times we do get overwhelmed ^_^.

Below is the summary of your dump files for informative purposes :-

Furthermore, the dump file blames the "NVSTEAMKMS.SYS" which is the Nvidia streaming driver file but I don't think that it is the root cause. I found that there is presence of Intel HAXM over your system and on Googling, this was the first link which popped :-

    https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/topic/475129

It is the exact same issue which people are having while the Intel HAXM is enabled. On disabling it, the issue is resolved. So, please disable the Intel HAXM and see if the issue gets solved or not. In case it is still not solved, I would be more than happy to assist you further ^_^.

I think I figured out what haxm (Intel's Hardware Accelerated Execution Management I think is what it said under Programs) is. I don't actually recall installing it, so I am guessing it must be part of the Intel drivers. I uninstalled and will report back.
    Thanks,

First of all, thank you. Second of all, I appreciate that you are all busy and just the fact that you take the time to do this for some of us.

Third, I was reading through the links you made, but I must not have been far enough into my coffee. I kept seeing disable haxm instead of uninstall, but I finally figured it out. Sorry I misread it.

Well, I got another error and I've attached the logs again. Please and thanks. Take your time. I won't be doing anything with it this weekend and it doesn't crash too often.

    CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION (109)
This bugcheck is generated when the kernel detects that critical kernel code or
data have been corrupted. There are generally three causes for a corruption:
    1) A driver has inadvertently or deliberately modified critical kernel code
or data. See Kernel patch protection for x64-based operating systems
    2) A developer attempted to set a normal kernel breakpoint using a kernel
debugger that was not attached when the system was booted. Normal breakpoints,
"bp", can only be set if the debugger is attached at boot time. Hardware
breakpoints, "ba", can be set at any time.
    3) A hardware corruption occurred, e.g. failing RAM holding kernel code or data.

I will uninstall it, but I am pretty sure I was having the issue before that. It is a sort of help program that I use. In fact, I think I installed it to try to get more information about the blue screens. That's how I first found out it was a 109 error.

Your BIOSdates from 2010.with version 0040. the latest is version 0050 Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there areany BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to seeif they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised thatflashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake canphysically damage your motherboard.
    Your biosupdate release info http://downloadmirror.intel.com/2073...leaseNotes.pdf

There are no windows 8 or 8.1 drivers available for your motherboard see herehttps://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...p+Board+DQ57TM
Due to the age of the system, it's possible that it's not compatible withWindows 8.1 - you may have to consider moving back to Windows 8 or even Win7 inorder to get acceptable performance.

I'm surprised I hadn't already updated that. There are some other bugs fixed in the "latest" version that I know I've done updates for before. Will run that also.

    Thanks! Have a good weekend.

    Hi,

Thanks lifetec for handling this thread. But, before flashing the BIOS, I would like to share my readings for this Intel HAXM. Seems like this has been one hell of a buggy driver for the Android Developers on Intel. You could check out the whole thread over here where some nice analysis is done by a guy as well :-

    https://software.intel.com/en-us/for.../475129?page=1

Now, one more thing I would like to ask is that completely Uninstall the Intel HAXM from your PC and then check if the BSOD's are still occurring or not. If they stop, then please install this version from here which is currently the latest one :-

    https://software.intel.com/en-us/and...cution-manager

Apparently, the version you are having is one month behind this version, so I would ask you to do this one before proceeding further.
