Hello!

I'm currently experiencing constant BSOD specifially the driver error irql tcpip.sys error for about every 15-20 minutes.

I have attached the zip file containing the computer info for reference.

Hopefully someone can help me out as it is really difficult to use the computer now.

Hi Fatwalrus & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analyzed your dump files and they all have the same bugcheck code and the same blaming module i.e. "tcpip.sys". Now, since this is a Networking Related driver in Windows, chance of this being at fault would be extremely less. So, there must be something else that is causing trouble. Below has been provided an analysis of your latest Dump file for informational purposes :-

I have highlighted a driver in red which is known to cause Blue Screens in Windows systems, so I would suggest that you deal with it immediately. The highlighted one in the black is your wireless NIC driver which is causing trouble and probably the root cause. Update is ASAP. The given links should help you on how to update with the above drivers listed.

In case, the Blue Screens continue to occur, could you please go to this **LINK** and remove the MalwareBytes software from your system to make sure that it is not causing the BSOD?

In case of further problems, please do not hesitate to post back here and we would be glad to help you further ^_^.

EDIT :- Whoops, I forgot to look clearly, in this case there is a high possibility that your Atheros Wireless drivers are at fault. Please update them ASAP. Thanks Boozad, unfortunately the Board is saying that I need to spread around some more rep before I can give it to you :|. Nice work as always ^_^.

Thanks a lot blueelvis and Boozad!
I followed the instructions above as I tried my best to update all drivers possible.
I've attached the updated dumpfile here for reference
Also, I did notice that BSOD decreased when I removed malwarebytes. However, what can you guys recommend for me to install as a good anti-malware tool for the computer? or even anti-virus that won't cause BSODS in the long run?

Thanks again

Hi Fatwalrus,

I see that according to your latest dump files, there is still presence of the MalwareBytes scanner. Did you follow the link which I suggested in my previous reply? Run the cleaning tool in Safe Mode which can be accessed by repeatedly pressing F8 (Generally) while the Windows is booting up.

Also, I see that the Atheros drivers are not updated and they are having the same Timestamp of the year 2012. Please update them using this **LINK**.

As far as a nice antimalware solution is concerned, you can download and install the Microsoft Security Essentials by following this guide :-

MS Security Essentials install instructions | Windows anti-virus |

It is free and does the job of removing the malware effectively.

hello blueelvis,

i tried installing the atheros ar9485wb eg driver but once installed, windows 8 is saying that it is not recognized due to
"Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher" issue; so what happened was, I was able to install the driver but it won't initiate the wireless lan hence no internet access. I ended up reverting to the old driver to make it work.

yup i already installed that one and it is already mentioned in the driver details as updated to 2014. The atheros wireless driver is the issue as it was the problematic one for digital signer issue. Actually, the driver cannot be installed at first and then i tried logging in to advanced accounts and was able to install it without the trust certificate blabla from windows. I was able to install it then registered as updated to 10.0.0.274 version (2013) but it won't initiate and i'm not able to get internet access via wlan. Therefore i uninstalled it and reverted to original driver

Out of all 27 memory dumps, there was only one that showed a 3rd party driver in the stack text. And that driver was a driver related to MalwareBytes. Please uninstall the MalwareBytes program while we're troubleshooting.

The raw stack text also shows some signs from the AMD Quick Stream driver - which is a network related driver for your AMD processor. More info on it here: AMD Quick Stream Technology

I saw several calls to hal.dll while the stack was working with networking drivers (and mostly before it called the Atheros driver). In most cases I consider this to be a suggestion that there may be an incompatibility (although there are many other possibilities). As most everything is network related, we start by examining the stack text, the raw stack text, and the drivers listed in the memory dump.

Next is the thread that was executing when this happened. Normally this isn't significant, but I do find that if the process is repeated over several BSOD's, then there may be a problem with the program involved in that process. In this case uTorrent.exe repeated in all but one of the 27 memory dumps (the lone exception was the one with the MalwareBytes driver - and it showed the MalwareBytes process). So the suggestion here is to remove uTorrent and see if that helps.

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.
NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.
Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install". Reboot for changes to take affect.
Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

getbus.sys Fri Apr 1 09:54:29 2011 (4D95D915)
Bus Type Detection Driver (AMD). Although attributed to AMD
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=getbus.sys

FWIW - I'm not real concerned with the getbus.sys driver, but it does point to the AMD processor (which brings us back to the AMD Quick Stream stuff) - so it's important to ensure that you have the latest AMD chipset drivers for your system. Looking at the Samsung site for the 355V4C I don't see any Win8 or 8.1 drivers being offered. As such I have to wonder if this system is compatible w/Win8 or 8.1 (which calls to mind the calls in the stack to hal.dll that I mentioned earlier).

Continue to search the web for Win8 compatible drivers for the individual hardware components.

Finally, try running Driver Verifier to see if you can force it to give up the name of a driver. The STOP 0xD1 errors are usually pretty reliable in giving up the name of an offending driver. Please follow these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Does this translate to the Atheros driver not being a problem?

I don't think we can say that it IS not the problem till the problem faced by OP is solved and he posts back on how he solved it.

It's uncertain if the driver is a problem or not.
IMO, the atheros.cz drivers are usually very reliable.
But I wonder if there's a relationship between the driver and the later hal.dll calls.

My point here was that this is likely a problem with a network-related driver (not necessarily the Atheros driver).
It points out further things to look for.

FWIW - one thing that I look at is those drivers that regularly appear in the memory dump analysis.
If they are eventually proved not to be the problem, then I look elsewhere (both at your installed programs/devices and at other reports that will (in this case) give me an indication of what network-related drivers are on the system.

A driver does not have to show up in the memory dump to be a problem (but it most often does).
It's those that don't show up that are the hardest to figure out.

For example:
Assume that driver B writes to the memory space owned by driver A - then driver B exits.
Later on driver A access' that memory space and finds corrupted data there - so it crashes with a BSOD.
The memory dump won't have the info to point to driver B because it's already exited - so most often it'll blame driver A (or a Windows driver).
