BSOD Driver Power State Failure on Start Up and Restart

I'm hoping to get a little bit of help with my BSOD error. I've read through some posts with similar errors and I've done my best to try some of the basic solutions for this (i.e., update drivers) but can't seem to pin down the actual problem.

I woke up this morning and I had a Driver Power State Failure message on my computer. I've spent all day trying to get it fixed and I'm about to throw this 3 month old laptop through the window (I'm running a Lenovo Y510P with Windows 8.1).

In addition to the BSOD when I try to shut down my computer it never actually shuts down. The screen will go black for about 5 minutes but the light on the power button stays on and the computer starts back up again on its own. However it never actually gets to the desktop. The circle of dots just keeps going and going and after I force it to shut down twice the Automatic Repair kicks in but it says it couldn't fix the issue. When I enter the advanced options and do a system restore I can finally get to the desktop. When I try doing a system restore from the desktop it will get to the end and I get an error message saying it didn't work.

When I get to the desktop some things just don't work right. Right click on a folder, clicking on the file explorer pinned to the taskbar, etc. locks explorer up for a minute then nothing happens.

I've also ran SFC and a it said some files were corrupt and couldn't be repaired. Attached are my log files. Hopefully someone will be able to spot the issue pretty quick.

If sfc says it can't fix problems run DISM and then SFC again.

Will look at your files after work if no-one else has..

Thanks for the reply! I did try running this yesterday as well (I meant to mention this but I got side tracked) and it wasn't able to repair it either.

On a plus note, I randomly realized I had installed a program a couple of days ago and that it gave me an error yesterday which I thought nothing of. This morning I uninstalled it and my computer actually shut down, started up and restarted with no issues! I'm running SFC now to see if there are still any issues and I'll post a new set of files shortly. Hopefully this took care of the big issue.

I ran SFC and still had some errors. I must not have ran the /restorehealth option yesterday because I'm running it now and the process in the Command Prompt looks different. I'll update with a new post once it completes as I'd like to clear up any other issues I may have while I'm at it.

Quick update...I've tried several times for several hours to generate a new dump file to post but it keeps getting hung up in the writing process (left it for about an hour and previously it only took 10 minutes). DISM took care of the corrupted files so everything on that end looks good but I'm still worried about the Driver Power State Failure. I'll try again in a little bit to post the files to try and get this wrapped up.

For your Genesys USB Mass Storage Device there are new drivers for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) on the supportpage for your model.

Also you can update to windows 8.1 drivers for the Lenovo Power Management, maybe this will help with your power/shutdown problems.

Check/update also all your other drivers for the newest versions (touchpad, LAN, chipset, audio etc). from here

    Lenovo Y510P here

Thanks lifetec! I've updated these two drives (and checked that the others are up to date) and things are noticeably different. No issues with restart or shutdown. Let me get through the day without any issues and I'll set this to "Marked as Solved".

    Thanks again for your help!
