BSOD 0x8000000000000002 ID41 kernel_data_inpage_error

Hello,

Each day I get the BSOD "Kernel data inpage error". It occurs mostly after closing the lid of the laptop and putting it to sleep mode. When I reopen the lid I see a BSOD.

I thought that it could be caused by failing RAM, I've ran memtest and it finished all passes successfully (the RAM is OK then), I checked the SSD for fault - it looks OK.

Probably it is a system issue. Please help me diagnosing it. I attach a log file from SF tool

Kind regards,
Gregor

Please start with these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
If you've already run a test, feel free to skip it.

Please note that the BSOD's refer to hard disk errors, which you've already tested.
I'd suggest trying another hard drive to see if that stops the problems.

Only 33 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available.

If not the hardware, then I suspect the Comodo Internet Security.
To test, uninstall the Comodo program
Be sure to enable Windows Defender and Windows Firewall while testing.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

Hello,

Thanks for your help.
  1. I'm updating the OS regularly. Today it found two new updates published on 10.06.2014. I've installed them both.
  2. I've already test the hardware using memtest and different progs to test SSD. They say that the hardware is healthy. Memtest was running few hours and completed all the tests and passes with no error.
  3. I can't change HDD as it is an ultrabook Asus Zenbook UX31E.
  4. I don't know how to find newer versions of the drivers you mentioned as outdated. On the Asus Support Site there are no never versions. How should I proceed to get for example this one: http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=ASMMAP64.sys? I browse the lenovo support site but I didn't managed to find it. Could you help me with the drivers?
  5. I don't know how to remove AiCharger.sys though I don't need it. Cold you give me instructions?
  6. Will uninstall Comodo and check if the BSOD still persists.

Kind regards,
egregor

It is most likely (IMO) a hardware problem. Either the SSD or the connections for the SSD. If this system is under warranty, I'd suggest contacting the warranty center to see what you need to do to get it fixed (backup your info first). It is difficult (but no impossible) to open up the ultrabooks and replace the hard drive - but it does require a bit of experience.

Is this system upgraded from Win7? If so, there can be compatibility problems with the Intel Management Engine (ME).
The current version on your system dates from 2010 (Win7 era) AFAIK, the fix would involve reverting to Win7, then following the instructions on the website to remove and then install the Win8 version of the Intel ME

The package for the Win8 version (on the Asus website) dates from 2012. I cannot extract the driver from this package to check it's date (I don't have a tool to extract non-Microsoft .cab files).
There is no option for Win8.1 on this system at the Asus website, I'd have to wonder if this system is certified for Win8.1 If not, you may have to downgrade to Win8 or even Win7 in order to achieve acceptable performance.

As for the other drivers, don't worry about them for now. I'm concerned that Asus doesn't support 8.1 on this system and that may prove to be a problem in the future.

Thanks,

Actually there was a serious hardware problem with overheating (the system fan became noisy and the core temperature was much to high. I fixed the fan, cleaned the vents. Now the temperature is around 138F.
I've checked the SSD connector - there is no problem here. The system is out of warranty. It was one of the firsts Zenbooks on the market.

Unfortunately, the BSOD aftrer walking up from sleep persists. In two weeks I will have some free time, so I will reinstall the OS. Yes I bought the upgrade from Microsoft from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and now I have to go this painfull road once again (they told me on the phone I can't install it directly from Windows 8.1 ISO using my key, but I have to revert first to Windows 7 and do it step by step). I did it once and it took me approx 10 hours. I will let you know if the re-installation helped to solve this issue.

Kind regards,
egregor

The reason that I asked if it was an upgrade from Win7 was that I found some posts that suggested that the upgrade was the problem.

If you upgrade again, uninstall the Intel Management Engine prior to the upgrade, then install the upgraded version after installing the upgrade. DO NOT uninstall the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver (RST), rather update it after the upgrade.

Good luck!

Thanks usasma. I will follow your advice and let you know about the results.
For now, I disabled sleeping mode after closing the lid both for battery and AC mode so temporary I'm free from the issue, because in my case the BSOD appears each time after the laptop goes to sleep mode.
