Random BSOD on Dell laptop - umbus.sys and ntoskrnl.exe

Have a brand new laptop, but in the last 2 weeks, I've been getting several BSOD's. Did the Dell onboard diagnostic which didn't find fault with the hardware.

The BSOD's are completely random, can't really see a pattern. When it happens, it normally happens in quick succession. Had a look with bluescreenview, but because there's so many different files giving issues, I thought I'll check here first.

Attached please find the file, or let me know if I should do anything else.

I've just enabled Driver Verifier, so will see how that goes.

    Intel Core i7-4500
    16gb Ram
ATI Radeon 8870M Dedicated / Intel HD onboard
    Windows 8 SL 64-bit

Most of your dumpfiles blames Probably caused by : atikmdag.sys ( atikmdag+722feb )
This is the driver for your AMD 8870M videocard.
Because you have a Dell Inspiron 5737 you need customized drivers from Dell.
Please download the windows 8 drivers from here Driver Details | Dell South Africa

    Hi lifetec,

Thanks for your response. I had a look at those drivers - that same driver is currently installed on the laptop - I have reinstalled it with the drivers from that link and will see how it goes, but I somehow don't think that it will sort out the issue. The driver installed on the system is still dated 2013-05-04, even though that Dell link says it's been updated 2013-11-20.

Any other ideas? I somehow doubt giving Dell a call will help as they will just get me to download that driver again?

Ok, installed 8.1, downloaded the 8.1 VGA drivers for this machine, but still get dumps.

What's weird, is that it doesn't happen on restart, only when I shutdown and then start up from cold. Basically, the Dell logo appears, goes away, then appears again, and only then goes into Windows. When I check bluescreenview, it blames watchdog.sys, which has something to do with the graphics card.

Did updates to Windows, made sure Bios is up to date, etc.

Any other tips or tricks? I attached the latest dumps.
