I`m new on this forum so if there is anything im missing in my description please say so.
Ive been having some random BSOD`s all pointing to different files, i`ve even had two today (of which i can only give one error code since the other BSOD was all teared up and unreadable)
I`ve had one that said: Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal afd.sys and another one that said: NTFS_File_System. The other BSOD`s were not legible. Im currently using windows 8 and not 8.1 since i am a gamer and i`ve heard a lot of bad things about 8.1 and gaming so i never upgraded. I`ve read through some threads on this site but nothing helped. I`m at a loss of what to do here.

on a sidenote i`ve also noticed that some games (usually steam games and particularly a game called Dust: an Elysian tail) keep crashing with the notification: (Program X) has stopped working. Don`t know if thats important or not.

Only 131 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 160 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

OS was installed even before Win8 was RTM - please explain where you got your copy from.

These devices are disabled in Device Manager:
Photosmart Premium C309g-m ROOT\MULTIFUNCTION\0000 This device is disabled.
TAP-Win32 Adapter V9 (Tunngle) #2 ROOT\NET\0001 This device is disabled.
Please enable the printer, update it's drivers, then feel free to disable it again. As for the TAP-Win32 Adapter, if not needed, please uninstall it and physically remove the adapter from the system. If it is needed, then please enable it, update it's drivers, and then feel free to disable it again.

Many, many Live Kernel Events in the WER section of MSINFO32. These are usually Windows' way of saying it doesn't know what caused the system to restart. It can be due to holding the power button down to restart, overheating (and other hardware problems), BSOD's, etc.

Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

MSI Afterburner (along with Riva Tuner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.
NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.
Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install". Reboot for changes to take affect.
Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Depending on the results of the Admin Log from Event Viewer, I may suggest running hardware diagnostics. If you'd like to get a head start on them, here's the link: Hardware Diagnostics

Thank you for taking the time to write your reply.
I tried to save the event viewer file bus as i clicked the button to save the file the following error popped up: The specified channel could not be found. Check channel configuration. I have never heard of this pc option before to be honest, so i really have no idea what to do. I have removed/updated most of the drivers adviced but i did see something weird. One of the logitech drivers was a keyboard driver but i do not and have never owned a logitech keyboard. I was confused so i simply updated the software for my Logitech mouse. I dont know where that keyboard driver came from and i do not know how or if i can safely delete it, i hoped you could provide an answer. One more thing i did not understand is the issue with the AODDriver2.sys . From what i read that file is part of AMD catalyst control center, and i believe that is the driver for my A-10 5800k APU. In the post the solution states that i have to remove this software and download but not install a new version. Won`t i make my pc unbootable if i remove the drivers for my processor? Or can i just remove that file manually?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

P.S. I used the windows update function on my pc, but it said there are no new updates. Could it be those other systems have more updates because i am still using windows 8 instead of 8.1?

Don't worry about the update numbers as long as you've gotten all the updates.
The numbers are variable between different systems (and there's some issues in counting between Win8/Win8.1/Win8.1Update1

About the drivers. Windows has a set of basic drivers that it uses in case some drivers don't work properly. This includes the graphics drivers. The AODDriver2.sys driver is a driver for AMD OverDrive - NOT for the A-10 5800k APU

The AMD Catalyst package contains a bunch of drivers for your graphics card (which, in this case, is built into your APU).

I'm late for work right now and have to run. I'll post back later on with some more explanation(s).
Feel free to search the web for the text of the quotes - as I've used this advice on many different occasions (primarily here at Eight Forums).

If the system is continuing to BSOD, please zip up and upload the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump with your next post. You may have to copy it to your Desktop in order to zip it up.

It has happened again, i closed down Guild Wars 2 (a game I play) and i saw that sad face on the blue background yet again staring at me. I have done almost everything asked except the AODDriver2.sys so not all is lost. I should probably mention that i in the mean time upgraded to windows 8.1, because i hoped that it might fix some issues. TO no avail it seems. I have uploaded my dump files again and i hope you could perhaps explain to me how to solve this amd driver issue because i did not understand what other internet sources told me to do (either that or it involved software i had to pay for and i`m not that desperate yet). Many thanks for the other replies already given and i hope you can help me a little more.

So i got another bsod after closing down guild wars 2 (strange that is is happening while im playing guild wars since it did not always happen while playing videogames) i do think that it might be that strange amd driver file so i guess ill try to find a solution i can understand until i get a reply from my saviour :) I think i should also mention that i upgraded my cooler a little while ago (from stock amd a-10 5800k cooler to noctua nh-12s) and this stupid bsod thing started since that. I am starting to get a bit scared of playing games right now so i think ill have to lay low until i figure out how to deal with the amd driver.
Thanks in advance for the reply, i added my dump files in this post.

When BSOD's occur intermittently, and they give random error messages, often it's a hardware problem. In order to find this out, it often takes a lot of time - because of the randomness of the errors. To further confuse things, there are also low-level driver errors and compatibility issues that mimic this pattern (actually a lack of a pattern) - which makes the analysis more difficult.

We start BSOD analysis by attempting to fix all the known 3rd party problems - such as AMD Overdrive and Daemon Tools.
Once we've fixed all of them, we then move to hardware diagnostics (if you're still having problems.
You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics. I keep a list of them here: Hardware Diagnostics

In this case, your third memory dump is a STOP 0x1E error. Previously had I analyzed a STOP 0xD1 and a STOP 0x24.
I usually wait for 4 or 5 memory dumps to say that this:
Out of x memory dumps there were x different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers) - and older systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please run the hardware diagnostics and let us know the results. If needed, we'll work on the AMD OverDrive thing later on.
I am particularly concerned about memory and video here - so be sure to run those tests first (MemTest86+, Prime95, Furmark, and the other video tests).

I have used seagate tools and some software from Western digital and i scanned both my drives. My C: drive came out clean, my external hard drive however did not. I use my external drive to store most of my games and in both software tests the test could not be finished due to too many errors in seagate and too many bad sectors in WD software. I dont really know what this means, the bluescreens never pointed toward my external drive (though i suppose that proves nothing) and it still runs good. The drive test on windows itself found nothing on both drives. Perhaps there are bad sectors because i removed the disc from the pc a lot? I dont think i need to replace it. I will run a memtest tomorrow and look at the results, but i have had no BSOd`s today. Perhaps that is due to that i removed all those drivers (the majority of them were in the windows.old folder) i hope the problem is fixed but i will not applaud to soon.

Hardware errors may occur at a level that Windows doesn't recognize.
We attempt to diagnose hardware errors by seeing that there is no pattern to the errors.
Finally, at work we frequently see strange issues (that appear unrelated to hard drives) when a hard drive is malfunctioning.

The drivers in the Windows.Old folder shouldn't be being used by Windows.
The drivers that I mentioned wouldn't be in there unless that's where you told Windows to store/install them.

The Seagate and Western Digital tests test different things from the Windows disk check.
In short, the Seagate and Western Digital tests say that the hard drive is physically bad.
The Windows check is only related to the file system on the hard drive - so it can pass even though the hard drive is dying (the error correcting mechanisms are the reason behind this).

So, the test here is to remove that bad hard drive and see if the system has BSOD's after it's been removed.

-UPDATE-
I have not had a bluescreen for a few days now and i think the issue was fixed. The BSOD`s stopped after i reset my bios (i already turned my overclock on my memory and cpu off but i forgot my GPU) so i think the issue was caused by my overclock. What i am going to do now is overclock a bit less than I did before and see how it goes, is the system becomes unstable again ill just turn it off. Nevertheless thanks for all you help.

Most overclockers suggest that you raise the overclock slowly until you encounter problems, then back off a step or two in order to achieve stability.

Good luck!
