Random freezes. Every program and app is unresponsive

I'm getting frustrated to the teeth trying to fix this problem with my laptop. It's a relatively new laptop as well (only a year old). Basically every app i open, every little things i do, would end up being unresponsive for up to a minute, then it would work for a few seconds and freeze again. I cant surf the web, play games, or even go to the start menu without everything freezing on me. Heck, typing a 3 letter word would take an eternity.

I've done a ton of research and did everything i can think of to fix this issue. I've refreshed my windows not once, or twice, but THREE times and this problem persists. After the refresh everything would go smoothly for a day then everything gets progressively unreponsive. I've also booted in safe mode and ran both malwarebytes and superantispyware. The scans ended with a few threats and ive quarantined and deleted every malware. Next thing i did was doing the sfc /scannow in command prompt. It detected some corrupted files and successfuly fixed it yet the problem still persists. My last hope was upgrading to windows 8.1 but alas, but even that didnt do the job. Everything is not responding and its driving me nuts.

Please, someone out there, give me guidance. Thank you.

P.S. I'm typing this under safe mode with networking (everything seems to be completely smooth and responsive in safe mode)

I think it has to do with hardware. Can you please post your PC's specs? Could be old hardware or low GHz.

Please provide this information (even though you're not relating BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

While waiting for a response you can start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Hi. I've attached the diagnostics file on my post.

Just an update on what i've done so far:
- I've updated/flashed my BIOS
- updated my sound drivers and graphics drivers
- Cleaned my laptop fans

The freezes/unresponsiveness are less frequent now, but they do still occur... and when it does freeze it becomes more constant and just gets plain annoying. Anyways, i haven't done the hardware diagnostics yet, i'll do that right now.

EDIT: Actually nevermind about the hardware diagnostics. It says that i'll need a blank CD - which i don't have. I live in a small town in Japan right now and even things like that would be hard to find.

All but the memory test can be done from within Windows (and you won't need a CD)
For example, you can run Seagate's Seatools for Windows in order to test your hard drive

You can do the memory test from a USB drive instead of a CD.
Also, the Prime95 test does a good job at testing memory when using the Blend setting - so you can try that also

From the reports:

Only 32 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

C: drive only has about 7% free space. Windows likes 15% free space in order to perform stuff "behind the scenes" without adversely affecting the system's performance. Please free up 15% on ALL hard drives (you can get away with 10% on larger drives and won't notice a large performance penalty)

There are a large number of Live Kernel Events in the WER section of MSINFO32
Please do the following (so we can try to figure out why these events are occurring):
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Razer Game Booster has been known to cause problems on some Windows systems. Please uninstall it while we're troubleshooting.

If you remember that the problem started only a few days ago, then maybe you could use System Restore and restore to the date where the laptop was working fine? Your personal files won't be affected as well.
