Hello Everyone,

My laptop Acer Aspire 4752g has been crashing many times, I've updated my Intel HD 3000 and NVIDIA Geforce 630M Drivers so far nothing has changed. Crashes will happen after playing 20-30 mins when playing Napoleon Total War (Medium Settings using NVIDIA) and on Royal Revolt 2 (I'm not sure if it is using Integrated or nvidia) ,But sometimes i can play Royal Revolt 2 without crashing. I've received all the latest updates from Windows Update but still this is happening. I've also tried changing the slot position of my Ram and still BSOD. I already cleaned the fan using canned air and re apply thermal grease(Deepcool Z9) with the help of tutorials on youtube and other websites but still BSOD. Seems like a driver fault but i can't detect what cause it. I'm Using windows 8.1 x64bit before i have windows 7 but due to multiple bsod i decided to upgrade to 8.1, can someone please check this dump files :( . Thank You!

Laptops are usually not great gaming machines. They have very little fans (in size and quantity) so cant move much air around. The symptoms sound like the machine is just getting too hot and getting flakey.
My desktop does the same thing. It is overclocked and most of the time it works perfectly. But if I do something that pushes all 6 cores to 100% for an extended period it will BSOD on me. I know it is heat related as the temps climb up to around 80 degrees. A little more voltage to the CPU may fix it but then there will be more heat anyway.

Alright, i've been thingking of that because the temperature here in Philippines goes upto 38C. Add that to the temperature that my laptop generates may totally cause a BSOD. Thank you! Mr. veldthui!

Just to add to veldthui's excellent advice....

The memory dumps are suggestive of a hardware problem (which includes overheating).
Some suggestions:
- ensure that the laptop is used on a hard surface (use a cooling pad if possible)
- make sure the vents are blown out with canned air (DO NOT use a vacuum or an air compressor as that can cause damage to the system).
- monitor temps with this free program: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

You may want to try these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

And, just in case this is a software problem rather than a hardware problem, run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

I'm bit confuse here, there's no drivers in red so do i need to update or remove those drivers under 2013 and 2012?

Is it ok to use drivers for windows 8 from the manufacturers website in windows 8.1?

Thank you for the reply Mr. Usasma

Here is the new BSOD with Verifier enabled.

Im still testing my Hardware..

i hope this is a driver related error..

Sorry for the confusion - there's a limitation with the scripts that I use so I can only highlight (in RED) older drivers for Win8 and not Win8.1.

Some Win8 drivers work OK w/Win8.1 systems - others won't work. So, it's to your benefit to do the extra work to find the 8.1 drivers.

The lack of red says that all your drivers are from a period when Win8 was available.
The date thing is to enable you to figure out which drivers are from before Win8.1 was released (17Oct2013)
These are the one's you should look for (and update):
SynTP.sys Fri Aug 24 19:20:26 2012 (50380C3A)
speedfan.sys Sat Dec 29 15:59:35 2012 (50DF59B7)
Smb_driver_Intel.sys Tue Apr 23 15:15:56 2013 (5176DDEC)
IntcDAud.sys Wed May 22 10:52:52 2013 (519CDBC4)
TeeDriverx64.sys Mon Jun 10 17:37:50 2013 (51B6472E)
RTKVHD64.sys Tue Jul 23 08:46:49 2013 (51EE7B39)
[DEL]intelppm.sys Thu Aug 22 04:46:35 2013 (5215CFEB)
dump_storahci.sys Thu Aug 22 07:40:39 2013 (5215F8B7)[/DEL]
Please note that the last 2 are struck out. This is because you'll only get intelppm.sys from Windows Update - and the dump_storahci.sys driver isn't up-datable (you have to update the storahci.sys driver and then Windows will update the dump_storachci.sys). The storahci.sys driver isn't in the memory dump, so I don't think it's necessary to update it.
********************************************************************

The verifier enabled memory dump blames your video drivers.
I'd first suggest finishing the hardware diagnostics (and pay particular attention to the video tests).
If all the diagnostics pass, then:
- download a fresh copy of the latest, Win8.1 compatible nVidia video drivers from the Acer website.
- uninstall the current video drivers from the system
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

Don't forget to turn Driver Verifier off! To do this, open up verifier.exe and select "Delete existing settings". Then reboot for the changes to take effect.

The memtest Ran Overnight and it passes 8 times without error, i'll be checking the HDD later Thanks :)

UPDATE:I've turned off the verifier then after restart i uninstalled the currenlty installed Nvidia driver using driver fusion. After restart i installed the 327.23 NVIDIA that is the first, i guess, compatible driver for 8.1. after the test i've played Napoleon again and there's the BSOD. I didnt install the one from ACER because the release date is 2012 although it is compatible with windows 8.

I've run Prime95 for only 25mins and monitor the temp. highest temp recorded is 71C for the CPU and Running furmark for only 15mins gives the GPU temp a max of 72C and it stays like that until the test stop. HDD has a temp of 40C - 41C.

Update: I putting aside Heat issues for As i am playing Napoleon Total War, my VGA Temp = 59C, CPU 51C, HDD 38 before it BSOD. And I revert Back to 335 because that 327 is giving much more BSOD.

The latest BSOD doesn't show the video drivers - but the only significant change to the stack text is:
- the change in the date of nvlddmkm.sys Thu Sep 12 01:16:00 2013 (52314E10)
- the addition of this nVidia driver (which has shown up in previous dumps): nvpciflt.sys Thu Sep 12 01:16:25 2013 (52314E29)

My first suspicion is that this device isn't compatible w/Win8.1 (as Acer doesn't offer Win8.1 drivers for it)
My second suspicion would be that the video card is damaged.
I am not a video card expert - so you may be able to find more expert help over in the video or hardware forums.

Good luck!

Can we know if the nvdia card is damage or not through stress testing it ?

Since i'm also receiving this back then, using windows 7, i guess its a hardware related.

Well on the second thought, Video stress testing can also cause BSOD just like gaming so totally its really my NVIDIA Graphics Card. I'll try the windows 8 Nvidia compatible driver from ACER as my last hope since you said that some may work fine but some are not.. If ever nothing has change i'll stick using the Intel HD Graphics. Thanks! I'll Update you if the driver from acer work fine or not.

I tried Running the Same game with INTEL HD Graphics 3000 and it works fine So far i've played 2 sets of Battle.

So I'm here again just to tell you that I've fixed the problem, maybe as in maybe. I uninstalled the NVIDIA Drivers in my Control Panel(Programs and Features) then i restart, after that i used Driver sweeper from Guru3d to analyze any leftovers of nvidia then to make sure i rebooted into safemode and then clean all the leftovers. After cleaning all the left overs i Installed the known stable driver which is the 314.22(Clean Installation) then restart. So Far i've played Napoleon: Total War using NVIDIA with graphic settings i used in Intel HD Graphics 3000(Medium Settings) and i managed to finish the battle and exit the game. Afterwards i played again, now i change the settings using the automatic button(All set to HIGH), Again i manage to win the battle then exit the game and now posting this reply. As what i experienced from the past drivers, i never exit nor finish the game without getting BSOD.
