I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon that came with Windows 8 Pro. After upgrading to Windows 8.1 Pro, I'm getting BSOD with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE at random times. It doesn't seem tied to sleep, wake, or any power state changes.

I think I've updated all the drivers, bios and Windows. I've tried turning off the BIOS pwer mgmt, but it still happens.

I've attached the minidump info.

Hi tsrich & welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analyzed a couple of dump files and all of them point towards the Bugcheck Code 9F which means that a Input/Output Request Packet was blocked by some device.

The first 5 memory dumps are corrupt as in they are not able to pin point the device which sent the IRP request and show that the IRP is corrupt but the rest of the dump files (all of them) point towards your Integrated Webcam Software or specially :-

SPUVCbv_x64.sys Dates to 2012 :- Driver Reference Table
&
Ksthunk

both of which are used by your Integrated webcam. Furthermore, the KSTHUNK driver is generally seen in Lenovo systems whereas the SPUVCBV_x64.sys is generally seen in D-Max and HP systems. So these two might be conflicting with each other as well.
Hence, I suggest you to remove the drivers or Lenovo Easy Camera (if you have that installed). See if the problem is resolved after removing this. Once sure, you can download the latest drivers from your OEM and check if the issue still persists. If the issue persists then disable the device by going into the Device Manager and check if you are still getting the BSOD's.

If you are still getting the BSOD's then I would be glad to help you out. If the problem is resolved then please mark this thread as solved ^_^

Thanks, it looks like that might have resolved the issue.

I uninstalled the following software:
Integrated Camera by SunpluSIT

which removed one of the camera drivers. I'm not sure how that software got installed, whether it was a Lenovo install or was added some other way.

Since then, I haven't had any more BSODs!

Thanks again so much. I was ready to toss the laptop, and Lenovo hadn't been able to help.
